Is Walmart food really that good.

From commercials telling me Walmart Peaches are better then peaches bought from a farmer at a fruit stand. To Gordon Ramsey telling me every week on Master Chef that Walmart Steaks are top notch. Are they for real!!! I'm just curious how good is the quality of the produce and meats from Walmart.

Their meat is tasteless... Never again. I'd say the produce is in par with any other mass market's.

I buy their store brand things like pasta and pantry staples.

I personally didn't like Walmart meat the couples times we have picked it up on the run. That could be a subconscious bias though. I don't like Walmart in general and we once got food poising from hamburger bought at Walmart.

NO. I have had to return their peanut butter, granola bars, and a few other things because they were not tasty ( my kids used other words). They do have a satisfaction guarantee where they will refund you the price if you bring the product and receipt back.

Everyone once in a while I will buy one of their products forgetting my past experiences. I'm frequently reminded why I don't buy their GV line.

I have also never tried their meat. Bananas are ok, but the bags of salad are always 1 or 2 days from their use by dates.

Nope. Their produce here is terrible. I do like their fig bars better than Fig Newtons but that's about it.

I do all of my grocery shopping there EXCEPT for produce, meat and fresh fish....because the quality and selection of those stinks. My experience is that the meats all have the saline fluid injected in them and it oozes out when I cook them. Plus, theres no butcher, so if they don't have the cut or size package you want, you are out of luck. They don't even HAVE fresh fish in the store. And the produce selection is pretty small and for the most part not very good.

They talk about how wonderful the meats are on Masterchef because they are paid to do it. I'm certain that Gordon wouldn't serve those meats in his restaurant or his own home.

Our nearby Walmart has decent produce. Most of the time their fruits are good, sometimes the bananas are too green for me. I can usually find the vegetables that my family likes, including collard greens and salad materials.
I'm not a fan of their meat. I can get better meat at better prices at Kroger and Publix. If I want really high quality meat in quantity, I go to Costco. In general, I find that their shelf stable items, other than the cereal aisle, don't have as much variety as I'd like.

i can vouch for the steaks. I do get the higher quality steaks though. I think its better than most places...

Their chicken however... is a different story...

No. I tried their meat a few times, it was very disappointing. Threw most of it out. Their produce is not great, except sometimes in the summer you'll find corn or something from a local farm that's pretty nice. Baked goods are tasteless. Definitely second-rate compared to any of the supermarkets around here.

They're OK for packaged brand-name goods, but not anything else.

Never ever buy meat at Wal-Mart! I will not go into specifics but my neighbor used to work there and knows a little about what was in some of their meat products. Now I do most of my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart, I live on a budget and it's cheap. I've bought fruit, veggies, dairy and Great Value brand products and have had no problems.

Shopped at Walmart only twice. Bought chicken breasts and next day they were "spoiled". I just took the loss as surly did want to take contaminated chicken in car and to store. Steaks ? but with just two visits and one bad have not shopped for food at Walmart since!:stir:

I do most of my grocery shopping at Walmart. Aside from paper goods, toiletries, canned goods, pantry staples, snacks, etc. I also get my milk, dairy, frozen and most produce there. We've tried their meats and it was a no go. Not very good.

I do have to say though that I've had some of the best strawberries, peaches and oranges at Walmart. Not every time but a good portion of the time. I buy my potatoes there unless my local grocery store has them on sale cheaper. Have only had one bad bag (out of many years of shopping there).

So every Sunday, I go to Walmart, do most of my shopping and then head to the grocery store to finish it off (meats, deli, sale items...)

No, it's not as good as the Walmart commercials or Masterchef says it is. But I don't think it's horrible, either. Definitely not my first choice, but it works in a pinch.

Those "You're eating WALMART steaks!!" and "You're wearing WALMART clothes!!" commercials bug the heck outta me. The people act so shocked, like shopping at Walmart is the equivalent of dumpster diving or something.

Now when a high class and famous chef like Gordon Ramsay and his counterparts on Masterchef rave about how wonderful Walmart steak and produce is, THERE'S where I have a problem. I'm 100% sure none of those guys would ever go near a Walmart grocery with a ten foot pole.

Every steak we have tried has been excellent and my husband is very picky about meat. Produce...not so much. Simply put, it lacks flavor
But we love the steaks and burger

Especially if you've ever watched his Kitchen Nightmares show and heard him go on about buying what's local and in season.

I'm sure the steaks any of those guys serve in their restaurants are Prime grade not Choice grade anyway.

The produce at ours is fine but we don't think that their meat is any better than any other store's and it tends to be pricey.

I buy most of my pantry and household staples and dairy items there. No problems. I've never tried their beef, but I got chicken and pork there once and both were very gristly and gross. Never again. I also avoid their frozen foods because 2 of the 3 times I've gotten ice cream or popsicles there they have clearly been melted and refrozen. It makes me wonder if frozen goods there are safe. I love our Sam's Club's produce and meat so I shop for those there or at local markets instead.
Our Walmart carries chicken feet and sheep heads seasonally in the meat department. I certainly haven't tried those.

For starters it depends on WHICH WalMart you go to. Some are better than others.

I have to say that I do like their bakery over my local grocery stores. My local grocery stores have "sold out" to other parties for their bakery items.

Produce can vary as well from good to poor.

The "higher end" WalMarts tend to have better selection of everything.:rolleyes1

Meats however vary.

The ribs and pork steaks HERE are the same or higher quality as the grocery stores. I have to give them that. However St. Louis is a big pork steak and rib town.

Steaks can vary. Sometimes fine, sometimes not so fine.

Chicken is the same imo.

Chuck roasts are the same.

Hamburger is very low quality.

FISH I would never buy there.
