Is trundle good for toddler?

I'm staying at POR and have requested a crib for my almost 2yo toddler. Well, as luck would have it, she has been climbing out of her crib starting this week. We'll be leaving in 2 weeks for POR and wondering if I call and ask for a room with a trundle bed, would this be appropriate for a 2yo? I'm thinking it might sound safer than her falling out of their crib or falling out of a regular size bed. Any thoughts?

The trundles are very close to the ground and are somewhat smaller than a twin bed. My DD slept on one when she was 3 but I had to hold her hand from the bed above because, while she loved her own bed, she was alittle afraid to be "on the floor" as she called it!

I just returned from POR on the 10th of Feb. and the my 5 yr. old slept in the trundle bed and had no problems. My DH even thought of sleeping in it but didn't. He said they weren't bad at all when he layed on it to try. Trust me you don't want your 2 year old to fall from the double beds. The beds are really high off the ground. When I woke up in the morning and I hung my feet off the side of the bed, my feet hung and were far from the floor. Nice but scary with my 3 1/2 and I worried all the time with him falling off. But he insisted on sleeping in the BIG BED.

I've seen that bed rails are available at some resorts. Would they work for you to use on a trundle bed for your toddler? Just a thought...

You wouldn't need bed rails on the trundle bed. It is designed to roll UNDER the double bed, so it is already low to the ground. It is a comfortable mattress; I know because the designated child refused to sleep there since it was nearest to the door. Mom got to sleep there in the fetal position. good thing it's how I sleep anyway.
