You know what? Enough.
You can't even go near a thread on this forum without being criticized or the thread turning ugly, and as we all know, it then turns into defending your opinion. Which turns into being criticized for defending your opinion. Which turns into "Who cares what you think." Which turns into an argument. This is exactly why during my last few trips/years, I've tried to come back to the forum, and ended up leaving it again in a week of two. I'm officially sick of trying. This is the complete antithesis of what I want to feel like when thinking about WDW. In fact, a great deal of these conversations turn downright ugly and mean.
But, no sense complaining. If I don't like the bickering, There's a solution to that - don't read it. I'm out, folks. Best of luck, and may you all have very happy and magical visits this year and always. Hope I run into some of you while pin trading!
Anyone who wants to participate here has to be prepared for the "Page 3 Rule", which is, by the third page of a thread, the original question has been answered and what will follow is an exchange of opinions where each person tries to establish that their opinion is the most valid. And the more "stays" that one lists on the bottom of their signature, the better.
If one isn't prepared for the natural devolution of each and every thread, then one would be well-served to lurk or just move on. It's going to happen, and nothing anyone ever tries to do will stop it.As for those in the: "Don't be concerned with the opinions of everyone else. Just try it yourself" camp, well, as far as that goes, when the OP asks for opinions, then opinions is what she is going to get. And with a board as vast as this one is in both membership and participation, opinions do and should matter. If 2,000 people tell you that "Beverly" at the Coke pavillion in Epcot tastes like swamp water, you can either believe them, or try it yourself and be prepared to spit in public. When 3 diners all tell me that the soup is too hot and that I will burn my mouth if I don't let it cool, I can either taste it myself and get burned, or heed their advice and let it cool. When 75% of posters say that Tony's is among the worst meals at WDW, one can either look elsewhere, or risk $100 on a gamble that may, or may not pay off for them. Of course all tastes differ. But sometimes "asking the audience" gets you pretty close to the right answer.
We all go to WDW to enjoy our vacations, and the very fact that we are reading or posting on this very board signifies that we care at least a little bit about food, and we seek to amplify our vacation experience with good food. If that describes you at all, then the collective advice on Tony's is: shop around for other places. While you may go there and find that it is "not as bad as everyone says", is that really the criteria for a good meal? Having eaten there twice, I can say that if you can endure the food, you will not leave hungry, as the portions were huge. So if you favor volume over culinary skill, there is room for you at Tony's. If you are looking for an experience that will be the highlight of your upcoming food blog, this is not the place for you.
Just my opinion. And it comes on page 7. So take it for what it's worth.
