Is this why I stoped going into Target

Probably! I am not a regular customer. I might spend $ there 3 or 4 times a year. Today was one of those days where I looked at the AD since I needed laundry detergent and Cold medicine. I had already been looking at an email sent from p&g so I knew I could print some coupons for TIDE. I had one coupon $4 off ANY TIDE 115 ounces or more, and one for $1 off Tide Simply.
Off I go. At first I was going to buy 3 regular Tides at $12.99 since the GC deal was Buy 3 ( any Tide $12.99 or more) get a $10GC. And then buy one large size at 19.99 so I could use the $4 off and just pocket the $1 coupon. Then I found the Tide Simply and they were 156oz and the price was $13.99 each. I put 3 of those in my cart. My brain tells me, I am not only eligible for the Target GC but BOTH coupons should work.
The cashier was super nice and I asked at end of transaction if I had earned the $10GC, yes I had. Then I asked for them to scan coupons, of course they don't go through. The cashier does their thing and I can tell they are trying to verify and apparently things were verified because they said nothing me and the register has a screen to scan GC. The cashier hands me another GC and I complete the transaction with my Redcard. I looked at receipt in the car and it only has one GC listed. Between walking to my car and looking at the receipt I figured they (the cashier) were trying to give me a $5GC for the 2 coupons I gave them to scan, which they did and which they kept. But my receipt didn't show that. Once I got home, I called for the balances ( because now I don't know which is $10 and which is not) only to find out the 2nd GC handed to me has NO Value.

I just roll my eyes and decide it's just SO MUCH WORK trying to save the most money I possible can shopping at Target. I won't spend a dime there over the Holidays and it has nothing to do with today. I'm going back to my regular stores, until I'm lured in again, LOL!

It was probably an oversight in the confusion of trying to do “right” in honoring coupons that for some reason weren’t being accepted by their system. At another store the coupons might’ve worked correctly. I think the cashier was probably just flustered… who knows maybe she was new, even. I know there’s an extra step to force a gift card for a customer service reason. The computer tells them to give you the card when what you bought shows correctly in their system. They literally cannot go forward in the transaction until they process the card.

Call the store and talk to a manager right away. If you know your cashier’s name you can tell the manager so he can figure out what happened exactly. If you really don’t want to go back to the store, tell them you rarely make it in there due to your busy schedule, the store is in the opposite direction from your usual errands, whatever. Ask them to mail you a new gift card to replace the one with no value. Tell them you can give them the empty GC # or text/email a pic of the back of the card for them to confirm no value. Chances are they won’t bother for the small amount, but offer anyway… that alone basically proves you’re being truthful.
