My family and I are going to the world in october for our first DVC getaway. We purchased annual passes. My sister mentioned that she wants to plan a trip for her family. Is there anything wrong with me booking her trip with my annual pass to get her the discount.? This would mean she would have to go when I am there. It can be up to 100 a night discount for the Poly or WL? I know I would have to check her into the hotel with ID. I did this the last time we went (I booked 3 rooms for my family), but I was also staying in the hotel. This time I will be staying somewhere else. Just curious.

I know when I booked rooms at POR for my family from NY as long as I was paying for the room with my credit card I got thr FL resident rate. The CM told me I could not get the park tickets with the discount but that I could book the room. Good Luck.:thumbsup2

You would have to be listed on her room, and she would be charged for an additional adult. Also it won't work if it puts her over the maximum number of people in the room she's booked.

I'm not so sure about that.

Provided the OP books the room, pays for it, is present at check in, and lists the correct occupancy on the room.....I think she's fine.

I've booked rooms, with discounts (not AP, but "personal" discounts), before: One for me, one for our travelling partners. I paid for both rooms, got the discount, was there for check in, etc, but only stayed in one of those rooms.

Is the AP discount that different?

I know that you are allowed to book up to three rooms at one time with an AP discount, but I don't know if they all have to be booked on the same reservation or not.

That's exactly the language that was in our discount, too.....up to 3 rooms.

And just for further info: The two rooms (in our case) were not at the same resort. We were at AKL, they were at CSR.

I just did this in Feb. I was at Poly & my Mom came down during my stay. There weren't any rooms with AP discount at Poly so I booked her into CR. The reservation was under her name & she paid the deposit. She didn't have any problem when she checked in.

When I tried to do this for a friend a year or two ago, I was told I'd have to be on the room reservation.

I have booked two rooms at two different resorts with us arriving sooner and it was not problem. I just needed to be present when they checked in and show my AP.

If your friend chooses a DVC resort you can also use your DVC discount, I think its 25% off you can rent up to 3 rooms with that.

I also had to be there to show I.D. I had to pay for the rooms, too, but that may have been a specific rule associated with that particular discount....I don't know.

i told her she should just get her own pass then she is not limited to when she can go...if she goes while I am there she can only go for a short period of time, like 6 days because she doesn't want to be there for Halloween and she doesn't want to go towards the end of my trip bc then she would be there for jersey week.

I believe the OP must either (a) be on that specific room's reservation, or (b) be on another reservation at that resort that runs concurrently.

I could be wrong about this, though.

This is the way I understood it as well. The reservation could be made in the sister's name and the OP's AP discount would be applied as long as the reservation lists them as traveling together and OP's reservation # is included.

From my understanding (and based on what we did last December) you can book up to three rooms with your AP discount. I do not believe that they have to be at the same resort, just a resort that has some AP rooms available. You will have to be present when she is checked into the resort. We did this for my sil/bil - we used our AP discount for their room but we were nowhere on their reservation because that would have pushed them over the room capacity.

Since there seems to be some uncertainty on here, how about just calling and asking?

The problem with calling and asking is that you get different answers from different CM at CRO. When I made my reservations for Feb I thought you could book up to 3 rooms & they all didn't have to be in my name & could be a different resort. The first CM told me no I had to be at the same resort. The next person I talked talked to said that was incorrect I would just need to be there at check in & I was able to book a room at CR when I was staying at the Poly.

The AP holder must be listed as a contact on the reservation, NOT as someone staying in the room, as an AP holder can book up to three rooms with their pass. The AP holder must be present at check-in, though they are not staying in the room, to provide proof of AP. The rooms do not all have to be at one resort or during one time period. I don't know why the CMs at CRO are unaware of these policies.
