Is this a wise choice?

As I am 77 days out from my trip with no air reservations, I am thinking of going ahead and booking the departure flight (SWA) at $140 pp now and praying that some wonderful lower rate will come out in the next 30 days so I can use any credit toward booking the return flight. That's not too risky is it? That $140 is insulting...but I don't know that I will get anything better at this point from RDU on March 30 (which is a SUNDAY). I am unable to be flexible with my dates, unfortunatley. Someone tell me to go for it, or to hold my horses...PLEASE!! :confused3

If they told you $140 is as low as it will go would you book it anyway? It sounds like you haven't booked your return flight yet. Have you decided to bite the bullet if those flights are sky-high? Book only what you'd be comfortable paying and hope for fares to drop. I'd be really nervous not booking the return flight that time of year.

Bite the bullet and book your flights. You never know - they could increase the fare.

This is what a SWA rep told me: If a ding comes through for the same flight with a lower fare start to book the cheaper seat online. When you get to the point where you enter your name call the airline (800-IflySWA I think.) They will then cancel your old reservation and you finish booking your new reservation at the lower rate online. You can either get a SWA credit for the difference in price or they will refund your credit card the difference. The credit card refund may take 2 months.

Give yourself peace of mind and book the times that work best for you. I was hoping for a lower fare and it never came through for our departing flight. Now I am so glad I planned ahead and got my non-stop flights.

Good luck!

Thanks for your advice! I am going to go ahead and book the flights. :scared: It's already too much money for me, but it could be worse! If a better deal comes up, I'll take it from there!
