Is there school vacation in October?

Is there a school vacation week in October? We'd like to avoid that one if possible, to go for less crowds. Anyone know what the dates are for this October?

here in ny the kids have off on the 4th and 5th for the jewish holidays and the following week the 10th for columbus day and then again on the 13th for another jewish holiday.... my nephew is in arizona and has off the whole week of the 10th... hope this helps.... we always go the end of oct and it has been a great time

Yep... columbus day here too. I hear Disney can be quite crowded that weekend, actually.

We went to wdw in October 1 and 1/2 years ago and it was far more crowded than we thought it would be. It seems that all of Great Britian is on a Fall Holiday or something. All I Know is a lot of British accents. The week we were there they also had their version of Make-a-wish was there. Lots of sick kids having the time of their lives.

Yep. I have a week off, and my son (in another district) has two weeks off. I'm off Oct. 8 - 16. I haven't heard when my son's off yet. As well, we both have two other 4-day weekends in Oct./Nov.

Minnesota has state teacher convention the third Thurs/Fri of October, but my guess it that doesn't have much effect on the crowds.

depends on where you live. In NY we always had Rosh Hosanna and Yom Kippur off in Oct. I think everybody has columbus day weekend.

In the UK, our children have a week's half term the last full week of October. If English families wanted to go to WDW for a fortnight they would probably take the children out of school either the week before or the week after to tag on to the half term holiday.
