Is there really a 'bad' Boardwalk View?

I was thinking about this earlier... we have a Boardwalk View studio booked for May and I was wondering those of you who have stayed in this category is there really a bad view to be had anywhere in a room that's considered boardwalk view? I understand some of the lower rooms may be noisier as they are closer to the actual boardwalk so that may be a turn off for people but I curious about the view itself. I know the computers are now booking rooms for guests, I am assuming DVC villas are no different.

Guess what I am getting at is for the points used for the view is there any general area of room assignment that you'd request right at check in to be moved from purely because of a view standpoint? :confused3

My opinion is that you have a much higher percentage of good views in BW view than you have in the pool/garden view, which cost the same number of points. So, just by booking BW view, you are more likely to get a good or excellant view for the same number of points.

The only BW view we didn't like was the 2nd floor 1 BR directly over the store. We found that performers would stand jsut below the balcony causing a crowd to form under your window. It felt really awkward being on the balcony with all those guests appearing to stare directly at you!

My personal preference is for the rooms on a high floor far fromteh lobby because the views are better, the halls are quieter and we like to use the far stairs when returning on the bus from AK. -- Suzanne

I don't think there is a bad BW view, but definitely the higher floors far from the elevator have "better" views. We've stayed at BWV with BW view twice and the first trip we had a 4th floor room right past the Boardwalk sign and the second was on the 2nd floor close to the lobby. The villa we had on the first trip had a much better view. The noise didn't bother us in either room.

agree that all boardwalk views are wonderful :lovestruc.....we've stayed in studios twice and both times have been assigned dedicated studios right across from the boardwalk games...on the 3rd and 4th floors....this past October we had a 2 bedroom on the 4th floor almost at the end of the hallway

there are a few BWview rooms on the 1st fl now in the crest of the wave section. thsy have a white fence in front and are close to the boardwalk.
I think all of the bwviews are good :cool1:

We have stayed BW view several times and have loved them all! Fun atmosphere facing the BW!

These rooms also have the "solid balcony rail" - which means that sitting on your balcony gives you a view of the wall - you have to stand for a view.

My 2 least favorites:

1. Room 5050, a 1 bedroom that is actually above the corner of the Village Green. It only had 1 small balcony off the living room, no balcony off the bedroom.

2. Room 2011 (or 2013?), a 1 bedroom right above Big River Grill. It was June and was noisy on the boardwalk late at night. As mentioned above, the solid balcony rail blocked the view unless you were standing up.

I always request top floor and usually get 3 or 4.

The ground (first) floor boardwalk view rooms (only a couple rooms there) are ones to avoid if you can. Though they have a decent view, you are right on the boardwalk, but cannot walk out to it because the rail and a grass/pot area blocks you in, but those walking by on the boardwalk can look straight into your room and be only 20 feet or less away.

There are also a few rooms (like one mentioned above), where the living room does not have a balcony and thus you are limited to using the bedroom balcony of a 1BR. As to the ones with "solid balcony rail" those are actually ones with wood type covered balconies directly above Big River Grill and I actually like those because they are larger balconies than the rail type.

Do you guys think it is worth it to request a dedicated studio vs a lockoff??

I hadn't realized they had dedicated until recently!

We've stayed in 2013 and were quite pleased with the view. For me...the great view is the water...and you have a great view of it. Yes, you are right above Big River Grille.

On one night, we were out on the balcony and there were a lot of diners sitting at tables right below us. It was a little weird. I kept thinking that they would look up at us. (They didn't.) It made me think of having a loft apartment in a downtown condo over a restaurant. For me, thats a pretty cool concept so I didn't mind.

I really don't think there are any bad boardwalk views, especially if you've ever had the road view at Beach Club.

Yes though it is a request not guaranteed. All the dedicated bw view studios run over the main store to just before the Big River Grill. thus that request avoids first floor room, and all the dedicateds have excellent views.

That's actually 5051 (all BW view rooms are odd numbers). I don't like any of the x051 rooms because they are actually Village Green view, not full BW view. The 2051's view is partially blocked by a tree, though it does have a HUGE balcony that many people really like.

2049 ia HA room. It has the solid wall balcony but that balcony is deep and long. It also has almost no counter space because the kitchen area is reconfigured and the microwave sits on the counter. It has a roll in shower. One nice feature is a front loading HE washer.

We reserved a BW view for our 4th of July trip, Looking forward to this trip. We usually have a Villiage Green view and are always happy with that but wanted to try the BW this time. Shawnpirate:

Great thanks! I will put in a request for a Dedicated Studio / high floor and hope I get lucky and get one or the other :) I am very excited to check out BWV
