. . . the avatars and thread titles that appear at the bottom of every single screen on this forum? I have no desire to see them, most of them are of utterly no interest to me, and the photos are very often out of focus.

Sadly, that's part of the set up on this site. They're trying to keep you interested by suggesting threads you might be interested in reading. Unfortunately, it leads to many old threads being resurrected, as it will suggest even closed threads.

I had a feeling it was like that--but I'd be all in favor of getting rid of that feature or at least making it optional. It's 100% annoying, not to mention unnecessary.

There are many of us who could do without it. But I doubt that it'll go away.

I have an ad-blocker and I've never seen any of the zombie posts at the bottom that everyone always complains about.
