ok i want free dining in sept...from reading some things on other posts heres my plan...go ahead and book por for my desired dates..i read that if they offer it all i have to do is call in and ask them to discount my package.now if they dont offer it then im going to want to change the dates of my trip...then i wont have to take kids out of school...im only willing to let them miss school if im saving a bundle..plus i want the light crowds ..did spring break 07...very crowded...so will i be charged if i cancel my trip or change the dates...and if i book my package with the dining and they dont offer free dining can i change my package and have ddp removed without a fee?..i hope you guys are following this..is it true that if my package shows i was buying it that they should discount it if they offer it while im there...like i said one post said that they would just credit it to my account...help me thanks in advance

Why don't you wait till 1st week of April to book (after they announce the Free dining dates) that is what I am doing.

well i was going to do that but i am a family of 5 and really like por...if i cant book there then i have to upgrade to a deluxe..and i know i would probably like it im just not a person who likes change and i really like por..

It's confusing to follow your post but I'll give answering a shot.

Yes, there may be cancellation fees depending on how close to the vacation your cancel or fees if you downgrade to a less expensive package. Also, if trip insurance is purchased, you don't get any of that back.

If your main concern is availibility at POR... make a room only reservation for the dates you want, and then call back to change it to a package that includes free dining, if free dining is offered.

*Room only reservations - You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 5 days prior to check-in. (6 days for online bookings.)

Even if you book a package now, I believe you still have to call and have the discount code for free dining applied, to your package. (Having a package with dining will not guarantee availibility, should they offer it.) There has to be availibility at your resort, for your dates... they only offer so many packages, and when they are gone, they're gone.

*Packages - You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. From 6 to 44 days in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $100. If you cancel 5 days or less in advance, you pay a $200 penalty.

Any changes that result in a rate change, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a differently-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

If you want to secure your room, either way, you have to watch for free dining to be offered and call and have it applied.
