Is there a brig and morgue on board?

Does the horn's whistle play something else when someone passes?

Maybe not when someone passes...but I would expect 'Under the Sea' would be the appropriate tune when a burial at sea is performed.

"Darlin', it's better - down where it's wetter - take it from me..."

Is the deceased still responsible for gratuities?

Can you just use the deceased to save you a deck chair?

Does the horn's whistle play something else when someone passes?

Are you serious???? I thought you were more reasonable then to ask such things?????....of course DCL has on both ships provisions for brig and morgue needs....geeeeesh.

I was always curious to find out what kind of security team the Magic has. You don't notice a lot of security officers around, or at least you don't recognize them. With such a large ship and considering the safety of the passengers aboard, I bet the ship is probably well equipped to fend off any hijacking attempts.

It would be interesting to find out what kind of guns they have on board, but I suppose for security reasons this sort of information would never be given out. I remember seeing a television program about how cruise ships have anti-terrorist defense plans in place, but it's something you hope to never see in action!

1. Actually I think it is a yes.

2. The passenger said I'll tip over my dead body. LOL. See you have to tip or else you may end up belly up. HA HA.

3.Definitely...like the movie "Weekend at Bernie's"

4. They play "Just a closer walk with thee and Amazing Grace". :rotfl2:

Oh I have seen it in action on the Wonder. Last June I was on the ship having lunch when they had a bomb scare in the terminal. There was was people everywhere. LOL they looked like the secert service walking around. They all had the little ear pieces in their ears and one guy was talking in to his collar.

I wish. :rotfl2: It sure would have made me feel better. We were in Palo and got told we were in a no blast zone. Now that makes you feel better when you can look out and see the terminal below you.

Wish that we could see the looks on the DCL officer's faces when they find this thread. :)

I believe it is a Coast Guard requirement for cruise ships to have a morgue.
First cruise I went on, on Paquet's M.S. Mermoz, catered to elder folks. Cruise Director said on average they "lost" one guest a month.

As for security, it's like Disneyland I suspect, there, but only visable when needed.
I know we cruised on HAL the year before our DCL cruise. We went to the Kids Club briefing, which the kids and parents are required to go to on HAL. One of the things at the briefing was a chat with the head of secuirty about what was "acceptable" behavior"....bottom line, "have fun, don't spoil other people's fun, don't break stuff on the ship"

Our kids never did anything with the Kids Club on HAL....or Disney, so don't know how stuff was enforced on either line.

I don't know about a brig or a morgue, but there was a medical emergency when we were on the 4 day Wonder cruise.

It was on our day at sea, when the ship normally just sort of piddles along, not moving very fast.....when all of a sudden it started burning rubber so to speak.....and within a very short time we could see shore, though at first we couldn't recognize where we were......it turned out we were approaching Palm Beach......a coast guard medical emergency boat came out to meet us and then as the whole ship watched, a 12 year old girl (who had been diagnosed with possible appendicitis by the ship doctor) and her entire family and their stuff were moved over to the coast guard ship......and then the coast guard ship set off for shore....

i should add that many many many small craft came out for the show as well......it's not often they see a Disney ship near their shores....

and then the Wonder headed "out to sea" again for the rest of our day.....it was very interesting how close to shore we were on the day at sea and how far north the ship was by that point.....

Was this by anychance the Jan 15 cruise ?

gosh probably 15 years ago we were on a cruise where a man drowned and they kept his body on the boat to take back to america...his family finshed the cruise too. :confused3

But to say the least that is the only thing I remember about the cruise :rolleyes1

I never thought about being stuck out at sea and have a child get sick??

And I HAVE thought about a child getting sick but NEVER someone dying....who would want to die after paying so much money for a Disney cruise!

Guess we're all gonna pay for our startasm as my son says.

It was discussed .. that someone did die on Castaway Cay - Serenity Bay - on the May Repo cruise. No further information was given.

Now THAT's how I want to go...my last day to be on Castaway Cay, at Serenity Bay.

And then I get Repo'd. :)

The life insurance may be the only way they could afford it :rotfl:

We actually asked the two original questions of many CM's on our cruise last November, but never got a straight answer. One did tell us that they have a place to put people who are causing trouble, although she wasn't sure what you called it (English wasn't her native language). I meant to ask Captain John during the Castaway Club reception, but he had us laughing so hard that I forgot!

I guess now I'll have to take another cruise so that I can ask him!
