Is the Sea Rough on August Alaska Cruise in Forward Stateroom?

. 2 port days are very short only about 7 hours each, only 1 port day is even a full day. Disney is new and other lines probably have priority, but Disney should do better than this for what they want money wise. Alaska is about seeing the beauty and scenery. Thinking about changing to a line that does inside passage.

I compared our itinerary from RCCL last year to DCL's. DCL is in Skagway 1.25
hours less than RCCL was. It's not a very big town, by 5 you are ready to go to the Ship. It's about 3 or 4 blocks wide and about 5 or so blocks long. It is beautiful. If you live in a city you'll really appreciate how little these folks have. It is truly in the boonies.

DCL is in Juneau .75 of an hour longer than RCCL was. From what we learned last year - the ships have a short window to leave Juneau due to the tides.

The scenery was incredible up and back and I live in BC with incredible scenery already. Miles and miles of pristine wilderness. And folks still say we haven't really seen Alaska. Can't wait to see it all over again with DCL and someday we'll venture further inland and enjoy more that Alaska has to offer.

Thanks for pointing there is a difference in sailing Vancouver and Vancouver Island. I will check that out on the map. As far as port time, I agree that many ships are docked that long in some ports. I would love longer in Ketchikan because we want to snorkel and zipline, and i don't if it can be done in 7 hours or not.

Map on Disney website shows them sailing down and around to the west side of the island. Have no idea why they would do that, but that is clearly what website map shows. Rats!

Thanks everyone for your input. This is very helpful. I have to admit I didn't pay too much attention on the inside vs outside passage until my friend brought it up.

I am not going on it, but don't you go out of Vancouver? My 1st Alaska cruise on Celebrity was inside out of Vancouver, it was absolutely beautiful. We couldn't believe it. Amazing.... Just amazing.
2nd cruise, was Celebrity again, out of Seattle, but they left port late, so we had to go out to sea to make up the lost time... Grrrr... rocky rocky. There was a storm, so of course that made the waters and the wind worse.
I was very back of the ship... Literally our stateroom faced the back waters.... WE had a HUGE veranda... 4 chaise lounges on it, and a table but I did have to use my bonine on at least one day.
3rd cruise out of Seattle on Princess... Out to sea when you go out of Seattle.. It was rocky too, but I think the weather has a lot to do with it
But I would go again in a heart beat. That is why I went 3 years in a row on a cruise to Alaska. Unbelievable scenery.
I think the worst waters are coming back into CA from Mexico.... I have heard going against the Alaska waters.... wheww...
"Hang on to them hats and glasses, cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness"
Well, not that bad, but that is the only time when I thought I would be sick on a cruise.
But you will just LOVE LOVE LOVE Alaska. I would LOVE to go again, but Disney is just too pricey for Alaska for me.. Maybe if the prices ever come down.

Thanks for all the information. Sounds like we will need to stock up on the dramamine. The good thing is it sounds like it will be an incredible trip.
