Is the Kodak Easy Share C613 camera best for my DD7?

My DD7 wants a digital camera for her birthday next month. I need something really easy to use, as she gets frustrated easily.

Did some research, and this Kodak C613 has good reviews. Does anyone have one? I read that the video playback is terrible. Are there any reasons, other than the playback, that I should not get this camera for my daughter?

Or, can you tell me about a similar camera that you love? Of course, I need this camera to be VERY budget. Thanks!

I don't have one, but have had a few Kodak EasyShares, and I think it should be fine for a kid. What you DON'T want to do is get a $20 Vivitar digital camera! Tried that and it was useless. I would feel confident in buying any Kodak.

I have two in storage for Christmas, I think they are M341 model, bought on clearance locally for $60 each.

Couple things to think about- it looks like the C613 comes with and runs on AA batteries. Either getting one that comes with rechargable batteries, or buying a rechargable pack for that camera might be advisable. Before I bought my extra rechargable pack, I was reverting to AA's as a spare. They don't last real long. The included rechargable battery was one reason I picked the M341 over the others on clearance.

Also, you will need to get her an SD card to put in it, the camera itself won't hold many pictures- the ones I've had are the same way. I still need to buy cards for the DD's Christmas cameras.

Many of the Kodak Easyshare cameras continually try to auto-focus, and make a weird, annoying sound while doing it. You hold the camera up, it tries to focus. You put the camera down, it tries to focus. You have the camera in your lap, it tries to focus.

I thought maybe I bought a defective camera, but I googled it and found other people asking about it as well.

Now, before I buying something, I google the product name with the word "weird" to see if anything pops up.

I can't remember if this model was one of the annoying ones, but you should google it before buying it.

If you try it in a store, you might not notice the problem if the store is noisy.

I have this cameera, for about 2 years now.
It is very easy to use and the battery life is very good.
I keep it in my vehicle all year round heat/cold and not very gentle with it and it still works good.
Not a high end camera by a long shot, but taking bad pictures is harder
with less settings to mess up.

I would not buy any camera without a rechargeable battery option. Those cameras really drain AA batteries. You will spend a fortune on those. My DD has a Kodak with a chargeable battery, and we are so glad we found one for her that does. Her friend has a Kodak with AA batteries, and her camera is always using batteries.

Take a look at the Kodak Easyshare Sport C123--I bought it for DS9 after much checking around & he loves it (so do I actually). This one is waterproof too so they can take it swimming--a huge plus! It came out this summer so it was only online for the longest time but they are finally getting it in stores. I bought the package that includes a floating wriststrap for $69 at Sears--reg $79 at the time. It is on the Walmart website for $65 but I don't think that includes the strap. It does have AA batteries but for as many pictures/videos that he's taken, I really can't complain about the battery life. I do plan to get some rechargeable AA's to use eventually.

I really don't think you'll regret picking this one up--others are giving it great reviews too! Good luck!

We've had numerous Easyshare cameras and really have no complaint. Bought my DD7 a C182 last year in purple. Came with a bonus case for $50 at Walmart online. She loves it. It does take AA batteries but I don't think she's gone through an enormous amount of them. Only thing I don't like about it, with the video playback there is no sound. It has a mike and records it but has no speaker. We have to put them on the computer if she wants to actually hear them. Usually she doesn't care though; all the fun is in taking the videos anyway.
