Is the Disney Visa worth it?

First, you can get a deal applying for the Disney Visa. The deals I've seen recently are $40 in rewards if you are accepted. That's an immediate benefit. I was floored when Disney Visa offered the FD in new time frames. When it included Christmas week I was amazed. What was really neat is that it was a private offer for cardholders only. I booked an immediate trip for 10 days in November with FD. That's been my best payoff. Not having an annual fee helps, too. When using your Disney Visa to pay for your Disney trip you usually get 0% for 6 months, too

There are times special promotions give you a chance to earn more rewards; although, the most recent one was kind of a jip and hard to qualify for the extra reward points. You needed to spend over $750 in a certain category like gas in a month to earn 5X for your points for everything above $750 spent in that category. We use a card for gas that earns us 5X all the time with no minimums and it's a cash rebate. We like that card a lot.

We have these two cards and my hubby uses the gas card for everything and I use the Disney card for everything I do in spending. I like this set-up; because, it shows each of us what we are individually spending. We both still have each other's cards for an emergency.

It may sound silly, but I like having the card; because, it's another way to display I like Disney. I have checks that are Disney oriented, too.

Even if there aren't FD offers, there are other good vacation packages that you can get with your Disney Visa, too.

You can always wait for a vacation offer that comes along that you can use and then get the card. You're in a little rush then, but if you don't want another card that's what I would do.

The 5 times offer threshold was different for some. Our threshold was 250/month for Apr-Sept. The current offer I received has a 500/month threshold . My daughter's offer had no threshold for jul-sept on grocery purchases and her new offer is for telecommunications and ultility with no threshold. I guess it all depends on the target for each person given the offer and all do not receive it. We do love these offers as well as all the others you mentioned. Another good thing with the zero interest is that you can use the card for other purchases and as long as you pay in full for the other purchases and have no other bal. (except the 0 int), Disney Visa applies your payment to the purchases that would have otherwise received int on them!! A good benefit since some cards that offer 0 int apply any payments first to the zero int bal.

I too agree that the card is worth it. I love the 0% financing on the Disney vacations. We use our card for almost everything. Then the extra points we have we let our DD use for her gifts and I use some to buy presents for other family members. Plus last year we used the free dining offer.

I treat mine like I would if it were a debit card. I write the $ in my check book that I just charged - write DV beside it so I know it was my Disney Visa, then go online every week and pay it off. It is a good way for me to earn points and still control my spending.

Yes, the best way to do it. I have actually, when the offer was to get 5 times on groceries, sent an approximate amount for the month for groceries as a payment and then just purchased against my credit balance.

I would love to get a 5x offer... anyway possible!
Do any of you just call and ask for it or does it come on a post card or in your statement? I keep looking but I don't see it. :(

I'vre received post cards and emails for mine. Each 3 month offer is a ltlle different, some with thresholds some without and on different types of purchases. No rhyme or reason as to who gets them. I never carry a balance, and some do.

I was wondering if it was worth it to get the card, pay the deposit on a trip, pay it off, and just carry a very low balance to get the benefits of the card?

We don't use credit cards, but I wouldn't mind doing it if we get Disney benefits :)

by carry a low balance do you mean just keep paying interest on a small amount of money every month, so you can keep the card. there would be no benefit in that. if you get the card, use it as you see fit and pay the balance off in full every month. that way you get disney benefits and dont pay interest. you may also keep the card with a zero balance until a discount offer is made and then use it for disney purchases only, but pay it off in full monthly. you only get disney benefits by using the card, but remember don't charge more than you are able to pay off.:thumbsup2
