Is Spectro a not to be missed event?

I have never seen Spectro or any of the Disney parades to be exact (It has always been difficult to incorporate our afternoon break/swim/nap with the parades schedules). The crowds for Spectro have always turned me away. Am I missing something I shouldn't? Should I tough out the crowds and make a point to see Spectro on our next trip?

Questions like this are very subjective. Spectro is not a big deal to me but for others they may choose to plan their whole trip around seeing it. I would suggest you work it into your schedule if time permits. If not, consider it a reason to have to plan another vacation!!

It's really a neat parade--I think everyone should see it once. It is probably due for an update soon, though.

If you happen to go on a night when they do the parade twice (usually only when the park is open until 11 or later), and you and your kids can stay out that long, see the second parade. The crowds are much thinner. Also, try to watch from Frontierland--the crowds aren't nearly as deep as they are on Main Street, there are better vantage points, and the characters seem to spend more time coming over and greeting the crowd.

Its truly great. Its so beautiful with all of the lights and everything. Yes, day parades can be missed if its a must, but Spectro is at night and takes my breath away.
Its a must see.

In my opinion, Spectro is a must-see. I think the best way to experience it is by watching the parade, then Wishes on your last day in the parks.. it was truly a magical ending to our trip. Best place to watch these both? I would say outside the Crystal Palace.

It is nice though very crowded. We all stood up on a wall but after 15 mts. my kids had enough. They did enjoy the parade at MGM (not too crowded) where they could get right up close and not have anyone standing in there way.

Spectro is a must for me on this trip.

We didn't do ANY parades on our 2004 trip, so everyone has been told that we WILL be watching Spectro.

Its nice to see, but not a must for me. For evening entertainment, Fantasmic and Illuminations have it easily beat.

We are definitely glad we saw it. Like Lady, we enjoyed viewing away from Main Street. We were in the Liberty Square area. We staked our claim about 30 minutes prior to the start of the parade which worked out well. I had brought some travel memory cards for my children to play on the ground while waiting. A CM whose job it was to keep the walkway clear (and play catch with the crowd) sat and played with my son. We kept telling him he could go if he needed to but another CM came along and told him not to worry he would take care of the walkway. It was a magical moment for my son who adored this CM ( a few days later we saw him about 5 times and he remembered us just as my children remembered him, they yelled to him each time they saw him!) Anyway, we had been on Main Street prior to finding our spot and we heard some families disagreeing about viewing spots. Seems one family had already been sitting there for two hours and was trying to explain first come first served. I don't really understand the two hour spot claiming since we walked down a little ways and had no problem getting front row seats all be it on the ground not the curb.

And I love Spectro, but didn't like Illuminations. I try to see Spectro each trip, but if I never see Illuminations again I'll be fine. Fantasmic is somewhere in the middle. I really like it, but it's just such a production to actually go to the theater and get a seat. That's the only reason I don't do it every trip.

Spectro definately isn't one of the better parades that i have seen at WDW. If I didn't have children I would probably just try to catch it at the end of the parade route if at all. There is no way that i would wait more than an hour like we normally do. My children enjoy the parade so DH and I make sure that we wait to see it.

Personally, a trip would not be complete to WDW for me if we didn't see Spectromagic. I personally do not care for Illuminations either so I could do w/out seeing that one, but I'd try to hit Spectro at least once. Small children seem to love it (as ours did) and I've never seen what the big deal about sitting down and staking out a spot is. We sat down about 45 min. early last year and then dh went and got everyone snacks from the bakery. We enjoyed those and talked about our favorites that day and what we had enjoyed and it seemed like it was all of a sudden time for the parade. Go and see what you think...I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm one of the few who didn't love Spectro. We had seats right in front of the castle but the parade didn't really do anything for me. Although I do love Wishes (fireworks).

I love the daytime parades at both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. I get goosebumps and tear up while watching them. :goodvibes

To me it is cute. It just isn't as good as the old MSEP I loved. Not sure why I feel that way. But compared to all the other parades, it is FAR better. The other parades are forgetable IMO, but Spectro is one I would try to see if I could :)

Seeing Spectro once was enough for me.

Actually, my DS and I LOVE riding BTMRR and Splash during Spectro. We have found both rides to be walk ons during the MK parades :thumbsup2

I was kind of disappointed in it but I think it was because I was viewing the whole thing through my video camera. Came home and watched the video and wished I would have forgot trying to tape it and would have just watched it. I think I missed out on a lot by doing that.

1st of all let me start by saying that I am generally not a parade person. With that said, I LOVE Spectro. The 2nd show is MUCH less crowded. This may have something to do with the fact that I love colorful Christmas lights so seeing Spectro at night, I find beautiful.

We make sure we see Spectro once a trip and then stay to see Wishes. We always go up by the LTT to catch Spectro (I'm not a big fan of crowds either), the crowds are much lighter there.

It is funny because I look at all of the pictures of the parade and can't seem to figure out what is so special about Spectro, but repeatedly I hear people say they wouldn't leave WDW without seeing it. Maybe it has something to do with the music.

We love Wishes and Illuminations. I know I wouldn't leave WDW without seeing those!

By the way if Spectro is at 8 p.m. and Wishes is at 9 p.m. will the WDW Railroad still be running after Spectro? Could we watch Spectro in Frontierland and then take the train to leave the park? I would hate to navigate through the crowds on Main Street if I didn't have to.

Much thanks! :daisy:
