I just read that Sea World San Diego opened a Sesame Street childrens area over the weekend. Does anyone know if there are any plans to do a Sesame Street area at Sea World Orlando?

As far as i know, the plan was for a Sesame Street play area at Busch Gardens Tampa, Though Sesame street is doing a new seasonal show at Sea World, this time a treasure hunt in the animal theater i believe.

I rather doubt they're going to build a Sesame Street 'area' at Sea World in Orlando, as they're quite busy with their massive expansion for the Manta coaster (seriously, about a 1/4 of the park is ripped up for this!). If they are (which I sincerely hope they are not), I wouldn't expect it anytime within the foreseeable future.

There was talk last year about a Sesame "overlay" in the Kids area. As the Sesame characters have been so well received in the park I would not be surprised to see it happen.

I dunno about that, either. They only recently added a lot of 'Shamu' themed rides to that area. The 'Shamu Express' kiddie coaster was added in 2006 and I recently noticed a whole lot of sea-themed stuff there that I hadn't before... like that carousel and such.

I really hope they don't go that route, laying a flimsy re-theme over it just because A-B holds the rights to the Sesame Street characters. After all, it's SEA World... I can only hope they'll stick with their roots.

Tell me more about the Sesame Street show and characters in the park...

My 3 year old LOVES Elmo and she thinks that he will be at Disney World with the Disney characters. I keep telling her that he isn't there, but she is just sure that we're going to see him. If we can see him at Sea World, I know that will just make the whole trip for her.

Thanks!

They have a character breakfast with Elmo ( can be booked in advance here: http://commerce.4adventure.com/EStore/Scripts/Skins/SWF/DiningBookNow.aspx )

They also have some show borrowing space at the Pets Ahoy! theater called 'Elmo's Treasure Hunt' or something like that.

But now that they're finally running a ski show again, they've suspended the 'Elmo & the Bookaneers' show that was using the ski stadium's stage. No idea if they'll bring it back after the summer night shows are over or if they'll finally keep a steady ski show in the stadium again.

Right now the Elmo show is seasonal. It runs thru the summer and most holiday seasons. Last year they brought the Elmo show into the Pet Ahoy theatre for Halloween. This year they have built Elmo a dressing room onto the Pet's Ahoy theater (Last year it was more of a temp area) so the hope is Elmo will be here for awhile :cool1: (Note: you don't get to visit Elmo's dressing room LOL)

The carousel has been open for awhile. I said nothing about Sea World adding a "flimsy" re-theme.

I think Sea World is working harder to capture more of the market and is realizing there is more to family time than Beer. Personally I like the fact that a family of varying ages can spend a day at SW and all find things to do.

Actually its not SW Orlando

its SW San Diego- I read it in the news. they are putting a sesame street theme in SWC.

Orlando has the Ocean themed rides going for them. - shamu coaster- hey I love my the carousel ride..lol big kid at heart.
