I have not been blown away by any reviews but I saw a picture in a book that looked cool.

It looked like everyone sits in a car like a drive in. is that true? Do they play movies? Would 5 year old girls like it?

thanks

Yes, you sit in cars and they play clips of old 'sci fi' type movies (think Attack of the 50 foot Woman) and cartoon clips. I don't have girls but I would imagine any kid would love it in there. The food is Ok, not the best but not the worst. We go for lunch and get a burger and a shake. I definitely recommend trying it once.

We love Sci-fi. It is very cool. They have "cars" positioned in front of a movie screen. The entire restaurant is designed (starry sky included) to look like a old-time drive-in movie. The kitchen towards the back looks like a concession stand. They show a lot of old sci-fi movie clips and some cartoons. My kids think it's very cool and it's a must do for each trip! :thumbsup2

My family and extended family went in Sept for dinner, it was great, there were 8 of us, and all 8 agreed it was one of our favorites.

Thats the exact problem i ve had re reviews:( I posted a thread a while a go to find out peoples views on Sci Fi & got mostly ok ish reviews. I think the main reason people go there is for the fun of sitting in the cars, watching old sci fi clips. Most people seemed to say its a very enjoyable experience but the food wont exactly blow you away.

Still im glad we ve made adr's for Sci Fi :) , i think it ll be alot of fun. As long as the burgers are fairly good we ll be happy. I personally like the sounds of the desserts they offer :thumbsup2

My DD turned 5 and thought it was cool to sit in the car, and watch the movies.

Definitely go!!!! :thumbsup2 It is unlike any restaurant you've ever seen. The atmosphere is fantastic.

Sure the reviews aren't up there with the Yatchsman, but the burgers are very good and the shakes are delish.

Try to go for lunch. It makes it seem even cooler to walk out of the hot Fla. sunshine into a night at a drive-in movie. :thumbsup2

I always think the Sci Fi is pretty neat and never understood the reviews it typically gets. I'm into retro sci fi movies though so can appreciate it. You don't really go for the food, its pretty standard but the atmosphere is awesome.

Definetely worth doing at least once. The food won't blow you away but I've found it mediocre, not terrible by any means, and the setting is so unique.

Sci-fi is worth doing if you've never been.

Just stick to the burgers & shakes, and if you're a group of more than two and get seated in a "car," don't expect to be able to carry on much of a conversation.

But within its limits, Sci-fi is definitely worth doing at least once in a lifetime!

We went last December with 6 people and everyone loved it. The food was good, not great. We had burgers and shakes, from reading the reviews, we didn't expect much, but it was all pretty good and exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere was very cool though, that alone is enough reason to go. If you have a big group and want to eat in a car, make reservations as early as possible. We called at the 180 day mark, right at 7:00 AM, and were able to get the last car for a party of 6.

Definately a "must go." Even my DH said that we had to make sure that we went back there this time.

When we went last year we had the dining plan - next year we won't. So, I asked for everyone's "must have" restaurants - Sci-Fi was on all of ours! The atmosphere was just so much fun - and we liked the food - it was great for lunch.

I agree the atmosphere is the best! It is cool in there (temp) as well as atamosphere! I've heard the burghers are great , I know the onion rings are, and the artichoke dip!! I was able to have the milkshake as my drink but I think it depends on your server, I believe you can get them as dessert also. I highly reccommend the oreo cookie one !!

I think it is definately worth it-at least once, especially for a 5 year old!

The theming is so fun! They set it up so it feel like you are outside at a drive-in at night. The movie clips are fun and a great way to keep your little one entertained while waiting for your food.

Service is just so-so and it's common to have to wait a bit for food to be ready, but the shakes definately tied you over and the movies occupy you.
The food is not gourmet, but it's not all disgusting either. If your family likes burgers and fries, than you will do fine. The burgers and shakes are actually very good-my DF actually said it was his favorite burger of our entire trip!

It's definately a must-do for theming and I would go once.

Sci-Fi is the only restaurant we return to every trip.

The food is certainly not top notch, but you cannot go wrong with a burger, onion rings (I could eat me weight in these) and a shake. It's the perfect meal for that environment anyway. :thumbsup2

We didn't like it. Will never go back for a full meal. If anything, we would go just for a midday break and a milkshake but nothing more.
