Is Sci-Fi cool and worth going to?

They do sit more than 1 family at a car so if you were 2 you might be pout in a car with a family of 3 or 4. We were 5 so had the car to our selves. The burghers are available at supper too and I don't remember about the lights but is very chilly in there as previosly stated!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants for ambience - very cool! The food is OK, but go for the atmosphere! :thumbsup2 It's a lot of fun!

:

Some pictures I see it shows theplace as being dark with starlight and head lights turned on and sometimes it looks very bright.

So when is it dark and when is it light?

Does anyone have a picture or review of the Seared Marinated Tofu?

It is always twilight there, the perfect time to go to a Drive-In.

No pictures, but I'm the only vegetarian in our family, so I've had the tofu. Not the best I've ever had, but not too bad. we go there for the ambience, not the food...

I would say it is worth a visit for the ambience alone. I think that is one of the best-themed restaurants I have ever seen. I did, however, think the food was pretty lame. I would love to return and just have some fries and a drink or something!

We love the Sci Fi! We enjoyed the food too. I compare it to diner food. We always sit in a car and had hitchhikers with us on our last visit. The atmosphere is just awesome, the movies are a hoot and when my DDs were 5 & 7, this was the ONLY meal they talked about and we had countless character meals. Now, 12 years later, my DDs still won't let me take Sci Fi off our list. (not that I'm complaining!)

My DD16 had the ribs and really liked them. She eats ribs out almost everywhere we go. The kids raved about the milkshakes and I'm trying one this trip! Our servers are always in character and pleasant. They must love to work there.

Wait, you can actually request a car when making a reservation? Can anyone else confirm this? I recently made an ADR and didn't even think to do this.

John

Yes, the CM I was making my reservations with told me that it is likely that we all wouldn't get to sit in a car if we didn't reserve one. While we were there getting ready to be seated, there was family that had reservations but was not going to be able to sit in a car, they were asking everyone if they would be willing to give up their car and in exchange for a regular table. I don’t know for sure if it is necessary for all time slots and party sizes, but I highly recommend reserving a car as soon as possible just to be safe. Luckily the CM mentioned it to me at the last minute. She said that they go fast, again maybe just for the larger groups. For our party of 6 at 5:30, at the 180-day mark, calling first thing in the morning to make our ressies, the CM said that we actually reserved the last car that could seat 6 together.

First what part of England are you from? The jumper has me thinking your a Brit !! The burghers from what I hear can be ordered at supper if you ask !! I also am not a milk fan but loved the oreo cookie milkshake!!

I live in the north east of England. Wish I'd known about the burgers, I made an ADR for lunch just so I could have one! Will maybe get DH to order an oreo shake and pinch a bit to try it.

Thank you for this info.

I actually just called and checked my reservation. The CM told me I was automatically put in a car for 4, which always happens if the cars are available unless the guest requests NOT to be in a car.

Thanks again,
John

We have never gone and I have not read the best of reviews but DH wants to try it for lunch in Oct so I booked a ressie. Hey, onion rings, burgers and shakes with booze in them, how can you go wrong? :goodvibes

If we have 3 adults will we be able to get a car to sit? I ate tehre a few years ago but there was 4 of us and I don't remember much. I really want to take my mom and DH because they have never been there but I don't want to sit in the uncomfortable tables.

Sci-fi is worth doing if you've never been.

Just stick to the burgers & shakes, and if you're a group of more than two and get seated in a "car," don't expect to be able to carry on much of a conversation.

But within its limits, Sci-fi is definitely worth doing at least once in a lifetime!

ACCCCKKK I have reservations for me and my 5 and 3 yr old. I booked it so we could sit in a car. Will we fit together???

We didn't care for it. We are a party of 3 me, DH and DS8. We had a car and DH and DS8 sat up front while I sat in the back. I had no one to sit w/ and they had their backs to me. It was very uncomfortable for us. The food was standard hamburger, shakes food. If we were a party of 4 I would go back but not w/ a party of 3.

DBF and I :lovestruc Sci-Fi!!! It is a must do on our trippie!!! We go for dinner and usually i get the steak and the yummy Chocolate Tart for dessert!!! :goodvibes

My 2 kids and husband enjoyed this restaurant experience.

I thought it was a great atmosphere and the food was not bad. My only complaint is that i prefer to see what i am eating - and this is not possible..
As you can expect, the lighting is very dim (as it should be at a drive in)

I am from the South East BurySt eds to be exact!! Been here over 30 years !!

You will sit in a car. Some cars seat up to six (three rows), others four (two rows). Each row is a mini booth with a narrow table. Each row can hold two people. Uneven parties are fine, your kids can sit in the front row and you behind, or you can probably all fit together. We ate there last week and I saw a family of three seated in the first two rows but Mom and Dad wanted to sit with the kid and they all fit fine. These were averaged sized adults and maybe a 7 year old.

If you are a party size that will only take up two rows, a couple or single may sit in the rear row. Its not biggie, they are behind you, everyone is looking at the screen and you just sort of tune out everything else.

We love Sci Fi, its the one and only restaurante we have eaten at all of our 11 trips to WDW. We can't not go! The burgers are very good and my husband also likes the ribs. Burgers aren't on the dinner menu but you can always get them (and I always do). They let you order a shake and a dessert on the DDP now, both my kids did that.

LOVED the atmosphere! Fantastic! Food was eh. But the kids can't wait to go back, so we'll go again - probably on our next trip.

I'm a little concerned now about this "not getting a car" comment.

Today (our 180 day in advance time) I called to make our December ADRs. We're a party of six, and reserved an early dinner at the Sci-Fi (4:45pm) with no problem. But I didn't actually request a car. Do I need to call back and request a car?:confused3

We have two little boys (DS 8 and DS 5) who would be heartbroken to go in there and see the cars and then not be seated at one.:worried:

I have eaten there numerous times with a different number of people each time and have always gotten a car. I have never even thought about having to request one.
