Is Red Lobster Lobsterfest REAL lobster?

I have never eaten seafood in my life so I can't comment on how it tastes. I am sure though that Red Lobster uses real lobster. However I am also sure they use VERY unethical ways of getting it. I won't get into it any further but please know they is a reason why Red Lobster can serve such mass quantities of lobster at such low prices:crazy2:

I would suspect Red Lobster gets their lobster from "fish farming", no? You can learn about fish farming at Disney, even!! Although certainly not to the scale Red Lobster does it, which can't be healthy.

But that can be said for most seafood these days. =/

However, it is definitely real lobster. BUT!! The Lobster & Langostino Bisque at Red Lobster is the best darn soup I've ever tasted. Oh, if I could eat that daily without any consequences on my weight and wallet, I most certainly would!!

I've also heard from a Red Lobster employee that their Cheddar Biscuits actually don't have any real cheese in them, thus making them lactose free. I was also able to buy a dozen for only 4 dollars.

You can be sure that you are entitled to your opinion You can be sure of having that opinion re beef and anything else but why even " go there " :stir: That's not what we are discussing here...time & place that's all I have to say about it

My family of six loves Red Lobster.....except me :( Now, don't misunderstand me, I used to LOVE Red lobster too. But now the love of gluten has been stolen from me and I can't have 9/10 of the menu, I must love it much less to save myself from heartbreak. Going out to most places just make me so sad and want to cry from the torture.

Oh and Olive Gardens GF pasta is garden rotini, available only with two kind of marinara....and I despise marinara.

I am having a pity party over the loss of those cheddar bay biscuts, the lobster bisque, the seafood pasta.....*Sob*

Why stir the pot then?

Why stir the pot then?

I am not trying to "stir the pot" which is why I said I won't get into any further. I just put the thought out there for anyone to research it further if they wish. Being informed about your food and ethical practices is one way that knowledge is power. To the person who suggested they were "farm fished". No that is not what I am referring to.

Our commitment to quality goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to sustainable fishing and farming practices. Partnering with organizations like the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), Red Lobster is committed to helping protect the sustainability of the world’s seafood supply. We refuse to serve endangered or over-fished species, such as Chilean sea bass, and participate in conservation efforts like never selling live lobsters that are larger than four pounds.

What’s more, our seafood only comes from certified, sustainable farms. We require our suppliers to be certified by the Aquaculture Certification Council (ACC) to having been produced according to Best Aquaculture Practices as established by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA).

I suppose they could be lying.

If you'd like to discuss "ethical practices" in the food industry, why not start a thread? :)

But why even open that door ? OR stir the pot we see your Avatar it's fine take it somewhere else we are all, presumably adults here and quite capable of doing research I don't come here for :teacher: There is a thread on the community board just started re SW and Orcas...perhaps a better " fit " for you ?

Back on Topic: to OP there is usually a coupon in the Sunday newspaper for Red Lobster or on-line but I'm sure you could have found that w/o my help ;-) now your DH ? I still say leave him home

The ethical stance I take on this subject has absolutely NOTHING to do with animal treatment/ethics. It has everything to do with PEOPLE and the people who are diving for this lobster.

Start a thread then....it may even interest some of us...time & place... this isn't what OP asked . I have my passions too, the horse in my signature was saved from landing on a dinner plate....again time & place

I'm NOT putting her story here

Just wanted to let everyone know you can but Red Lobster's cheddar biscuit mix in Walmart and Sam's club.

Real lobster and better than you would expect for a mass chain. But the biscuits are the reason to go.

I go for the biscuits and their lobster mashed potatoes.... :car: sorry, I'm on my way there NOW!!!

Which have nothing to do with what the OP asked. Your "ethical stance" didn't need to be inserted into the thread.

that's fine, but it isn't the topic here. Start another thread if you so desire.
