Is Red Lobster Lobsterfest REAL lobster?

I go for the biscuits and their lobster mashed potatoes.... :car: sorry, I'm on my way there NOW!!!

Haven't seen the lobster mashed potatoes at our local Red Lobster. will have to ask about it.

I didn't realize there was quite that much alcohol in it, but it does evaporate, leaving the taste.

It's real lobster but I've never been impressed with it there. Always a bit chewy to me.
I've had chewier lobster on Disney cruises. just sayin.

The ethical stance I take on this subject has absolutely NOTHING to do with animal treatment/ethics. It has everything to do with PEOPLE and the people who are diving for this lobster.

Oh in that case, there is a minimum wage thread floating around somewhere down the page also, you would fit in there fine! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info up thread about the biscuits! Let's talk more about that!:rotfl:

I have a box of that biscuit mix sitting here in my pantry. I might have to give it a try tonight! :cool1:

You are required to give a review if you do. That way I will know if I should make the box of it that I just bought this morning :rolleyes1

Of course this comes up on the very day I decided I need to start watching what I eat! :rotfl:

I have to respect people's ethical beliefs, but let's be honest, in the end, every lobster is boiled alive.

Never had a bad meal at Red Lobster. DW is not a fan though just because of the scary people that seem to go there. You know, the kind that don't pass the cheese biscuits, they throw them.

While Red Lobster may not be the most authentic it is consistently good. I have been to very pricey seafood places that aren't that great. I always get RL shrimp scampi, I've never had a better scampi anywhere.

Dip the cheddar bay biscuits in the scampi sauce.

Of course it's real lobster. Whether or not it tastes as good as lobster from Cape Cod is another story, but it's still real.
Here's a good page that describes types/species of lobsters.

I think most of the time that you get just a lobster tail, you are getting a spiny (that does not have claws):

And when you get a whole one, that has claws, you getting a Maine (or the related clawed species):

I get the scampi and a baked potato - I pour the remaining scampi sauce, after I eat the shrimp, over the potato. HEAVEN.

I used to love RL - Until I had seafood in The Carolina's. Cheaper and better quality!

But if someone invites me to RL I'm certainly not gonna turn them down!

AND you must tell us if someone died or was murdered during the packaging of those biscuits... :duck:

Chain food is mostly nasty. ::yes::

Long time ago, I did temp job for seafood plant in the billing department and Red Lobster was a big customer they always ordered bottom of the barrel quality seafood.:scratchin

They do have great "crack" bread.

I wouldn't eat there unless its free and I'm really starving.

I shake my head at the olive garden crowd, its packed the food is very sub par and we have 3 real american Italian places with in a mile of the olive.

I guess some people like to be cattle when eating. I love to sit relax try new things that didn't come frozen or in a bag off a truck.:stir:

In My Humble Opinion

There you go ...all better

Here is another question for you all:

My mom lives in California. I live in Virginia. She loves to eat at Red Lobster when she visits me because she says they serve a different type of Lobster on the East Coast than they do on the West Coast. She likes the East Coast lobster better. I don't eat lobster so I have no idea what she's talking about. Do you guys know?

Well California seafood restaurants serve both the Rock/Spiny Lobster and the American/Maine Lobster for the most part as does Red Lobster. They are usually properly disclosed on the menu. I actually like the flavor and texture of the Rock Lobster tail better. The drawback is Rock Lobsters don't have claws, are a bit smaller, and the tail is about the only meat on it worth any effort. Now Lobster that you get out of the pot right where they bring em in on the North East Coast is better than any you can get anywhere else. But other than that, no. But If there is any difference Red Lobster to Red Lobster, it's a difference in the cook.

I promise I'll let you know if there were any unseemly techniques used. ;)

However, there will be a one day delay in reporting the results. I forgot my daughter had choir practice after school and my car *might* have made a previously unscheduled detour past our local Chinese carry-out place. Sorry.

And we won't even start on the rumors about meat used by Chinese restaurants.............:rotfl2:
