Hey everyone! Ever since my last trip to Universal in 2004, I have been on the "upper" part of the Disboards, aka the Disney part. I recently heard that they were putting in the Blue Man Group in the building where Nickelodeon Studios used to be. I find this to be a great idea for 2 reasons:

1. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THAT BUILDING! I was getting sick of looking at it if there's not going to be anything in it! I know it was used for HHN, but that was about it!

2. I am a big fan of the Blue Man Group. I saw them in NYC and it was incredibly entertaining.

Great job Universal!

Now... whats your opinion on this?

I was hoping for something that would be included with normal park admission, not a $50.00pp show.

I think its a great idea. It's definitely a step in the right direction for Universal. Things like this attract more visitors and allows them to become more of a resort destination.

While they're still a ways off from that, seeing that they are committing to broadening the scope of their resort, and actually decided to spend money on something, is a great thing.

This is one of the first good moves I think Universal has executed since being bought by NBC. :thumbsup2

Now, now.. You can't always get what you want. Didn't someone ever tell that to you?? :teacher:

I think the decision to bring in the BMG to Universal is a great idea. This will attract many more tourists next summer, and hopefully attendance will increase due to the BMG show.

why should BMG be free in Orlando when it isnt free anywhere else (or included in any park or other package)?

To be included in park admission tickets the park ticket price would have to be raised.

The way they set it up you dont have to have a park ticket to see the show but if you do you can enter from that side. My guess is that the "Hard Rock Gate" will be moved closer to the BMG sound stage.

I don't have any problem paying for the tickets; I would have to pay to see them anywhere else they have a show. I'm glad that they are adding to USF. We have never stayed more than 2 days at a time because there isn't much to do outside of the parks (boat and bike rentals, etc). This June we are staying for 4 nights; one of which we will spend at the show.

I agree but at least its being used for something and maybe there will be a nice AP discount offered at some point. I can't stand the way Epcot leaves a pavillion the size of Wonders of Life dormant for 95% of the year. I'm excited to be going when its finally open but then I have to think about what I'm getting excited about......... its ancient.

When you stay onsite and blow thru all of the attractions quickly, you need some other entertainment options so I think its good.

The whole point, I think, of adding BMG is to give another level to CityWalk. And while CityWalk is great, and I love it dearly more than Downtown He....disney, there is not nearly enough there to keep all the people busy after the clubs go 21 and up. Dtd at least has a few things, and a lot of shops to keep everyone busy. And I dont wanna hear about how its going to cost...La Nouba costs way more, Disney Quest is almost the cost of a theme park, and after a certain time its really hard to get into any of the resturants like HOB. But I guess if you like to shop there's that.
BMG=good idea.

So if BMG is going to be in the Old Nick Studios building and that is in the Universal Theme Park itself would you have to pay admission to the Theme Park to get to BMG and then pay again to see the show? OR is there another entrance? Thats what I don't get. :confused3

There are now survey stakes up to the right of the Hard Rock Cafe indicating where they will be building a new walkway and signs for the show for a citywalk entrance.

Lillian,

Universal stated in a press release that you do NOT have to purchase a theme park admission ticket in order to see the Blue Man Group. They are currently building a new entrance to the theatre so it will be accessible from CityWalk as well. So, there will be 2 access points. Universal Studios and CityWalk. :) :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see it! I think it'll be so much fun. I think me & all my friends are going to it on my birthday.

BMG is great for Universal. Many of us would have liked to see a park attraction replace Nickelodeon, but this is better than nothing and they still have expansion room. Plus CityWalk needs improvement.

Universal will be re-positioning the park entrance around the Nick building in order to make BMG part of Citywalk. The entrance behind Hard Rock Cafe will be relocated to the end of Nick way just past Jimmy Neutron. Then there will be a major walkway just to the right of Hard Rock (if you were standing in front of Hard Rock) that will lead you back to the Blue Man Group building.

So the building will NO longer be part of Universal Studios park, instead will be part of Citywalk.

I think adding the Blue Man Group is a great idea. I'm looking forward to returning to Universal in Sept. and seeing the show.

I've never seen BMG except for those old Intel commercials (which I loved), but the idea of putting a popular permanent stage show into Universal sounds like a great one to me.

I do think Citywalk could use some more general shops and stores to compete with Downtown Disney after hours, but the addition of BMG is a big step in the right direction.

i'm in the chicago area and have had the blue man group up here.

it is a lot cheaper to see bmg in orlando than it is in chicago.

a lot cheaper......

Did they release the prices for the Universal show?

The BMG here in New York is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, but definetly worth it.
