Is memory maker the only option to download photos?

So in our many, many trips to Disney World we never got any PhotoPass photos. I mean maybe years ago once or twice, and then we just forked over $$$ for a single photo because no other option existed. In the years since we never paid attention to it.

Then we went to Disneyland last year with our then 1 year old. It was $10 to download of ALL our PhotoPass photos of the day. We LOVED it. I mean $10, that’s all. And you got to do their version of Fastpass for that price too. Anyway, we’re doing Disney World this year. We want to do PhotoPass again because we loved it but am I understanding it right?! It’s like $100+++ for something we paid $10 for in Disneyland?! Why the huge difference?!?!?!

It's $10/day at DL, but it's $169 at WDW for the whole trip, so not really a direct comparison. Also DL is a per person price and Memory Maker can be linked to everyone in the friends/family list. So really, it probably comes out similar price, especially for longer trips.

Yeah I guess I was trying to find out if they had something similar, but I guess they don't. In DL, not everyone needed to have it in order to get the pictures, and since we did rider swap on most rides we only got it for one person. One day we did it for the FP benefit for 2 people. So in 3 park days the total came to $40. I cannot wrap my head yet around $169 for the same thing lol. Our trip this year to DW will only have 5 park days. Hopefully closer to the trip I can wrap my head around this haha.

It was raised to $15 per day at DL.

At WDW, Gold AP’s and up include picture download for a year from date taken. If you are on a longer trip or more than one trip a year it may payoff to at least buy one for your family/group.

I believe you can also just pay for individual pictures. We have never bought memory maker, but if there are a couple of good ride or character pictures, I'll just pay for those. I think after one trip I ended up spending about $80 on the photos - which isn't cheap - but it's half of what memory maker would have been and there weren't any other pictures we wanted anyway.

If I remember correctly, it's $15 per photo if you don't have memory maker.

Or if you have a friend who has an Annual Pass which includes it, and the friend adds you to their Friends & Family List, and the friend is willing to download the photos for you, then all of your photos will appear in the friend's MDE account at no extra cost.

It’s just not worth it for me. I screen shot all mine and screen recorded the video. Good enough for me as I couldn’t imagine looking at the stuff long enough to justify $169. If I had kids, I’m sure I’d think differently
