Is Liberty Tree like a stouffers frozen meal?

We ate there during MNSSHP last Sept. and enjoyed the food, as always. We don't expect a gourmet meal, basically it's comfort food. That said, we (inc. DD7) don't like the mac 'n cheese-it's pretty tasteless and very gummy  -not like I make it, at all. We really enjoyed the strawberry vinegarette salad :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 , mashed potatoes, gravy, flank steak, and turkey. :goodvibes Hot food was hot, cold was cold. I like the dressing on the salad so much I've tried to duplicate it at home, no luck yet.

The character interaction was great. :cheer2: They came around every 5-10 mins. and in our approx. 60 min. we saw them all twice, and Minnie and Pluto twice.

I reviewed our last trip there, in my DDP dining review. Just click on link in my signature.

Enjoy!

LTT gets mixed reviews just like most every restaurant does. Try it once for yourself. That's my advice.

I second this!

That being said, here are my two cents worth:

I am not a fan of red meat. Flank steak, I would rather floss my cat's teeth then eat flank steak. However, I wanted a character meal that my DH might enjoy so I booked LTT.

The results - I loved the flank steak and the turkey. My DH even ate the green beans (something I had never seen him do!) I would eat here again in a heart beat!

We ate there a few years back and yes to us it was like eating Stouffer's frozen dinners. Maybe it is better now but with the many other options I wouldn't try it again.

It's regular, good old American "comfort food." Nothing fancy, but who would expect it to be? As for the Stouffers Mac and Cheese, I guess that our family is among the few who seem to really enjoy it. Not that we have it often, but it's grades above the boxed stuff!

Speaking to the 'yuck' crowd - you just need to be more careful as you peel back the plastic film over the plastic tray they set in front of you!

Speaking to the 'open minded crowd' -- try it... find out for yourselves.
I'm a foodie (read=snob) and I've always enjoyed the experience.
YMMV.

My guess is that if Disney didn't advertise LTT as "being sponsored by Stouffer's", it would get a lot less "yuck" reviews........LTT guilty by association, perhaps?

We ate there for lunch on '05 and it was ok. I had some sort of sandwich and I could've sworn it was the exact sandwich I got at the Electric Umbrella a few days prior in Epcot! But no matter.....it did the trick and was tasty going down!

DH and I are trying dinner this time around. We're looking forward to it and we LOVE comfort food. Cracker Barrel ROCKS!

To the poster who said that it doesn't taste like a homemade T'giving b/c the stuffing tastes like Stove Top, I say..... "That IS homemade in my house!" Seriously, I so look forward to Stove Top every year....it's THE taste of the holidays for me! So bring it on!!!!! ;)

As many have said, just try it for yourself.

If you are expecting to change to a different place and get all positive reviews, you'll be in for a surprise and end up right back where you started... questioning your decision.

Its good, basic comfort food in a very pleasant colonial atmosphere with great character interaction.

If that sounds promising, go for it.

If you want to just count up votes, we're in the "love it" category.

The lunch here was easily one of the best meals we had on our last trip, but the dinner did not seem as appealing to me. We may decide to try the dinner anyway on the next trip.

Put us in the yuck category as well!

I'm a really good cook, and there's just no comparison to real, homecooked comfort food. I did think it was more like hospital food than frozen dinner, though - no seasonings, very bland, add water and stir kind of stuff.

I have to agree with the posters that have said give it a try. Alot of times it's just the luck of the draw if you like it or not. Everyone raves about 1900 Park Fare and my whole family hated it....and alot of people hate Cystal Palace and we thought it was the best buffet we all have ever had. So even though I've never tryed LLT I say go for it, and you might be greatly suprised or if nothing else have an ok meal, you will alway wonder if you just don't go try it, then post and let us all know your thoughts.

After reading so many different opinions on the character dinner, we have decided to try lunch instead at LTT. I have read a few comments about lunch being better food. Has anyone else had lunch here and enjoyed it??

We really like LTT. There are no processed meats there. It is real turkey, flank steak, and smoked pork chops. All are pretty tasty. The only thing that is processed is the mac and cheese. Everything else is real and very good. I always try something first before making an opinion. Everyone has different tastes. Oh and I am a very good cook, no frozen dinners at my house, and this character meal is still a must do every trip!

We ate at the LTT and thought is was real good, kinda like a home cooked meal. I would definately go back :thumbsup2

1) The turkey and beef are processed loaves.
2) The mac-and-cheese APPEARS to be pre-made.
3) Couldn't tell about the mashed potatoes, but fresh seems doubtful.
4) Either way, I thought it was good for a character meal.

NOTE: Character meals are not known for the food. WDW skimps on the food and makes the profit because of the character appearances. The meals are usually tasty, but not more than pedestrian on quality and form.

I have to take exception to this - we ate there just last fall and I had turkey and DH had beef. There was nothing "processed" about them. Both were the real thing, carved from the roast (or the bird, in the case of the turkey!).

The kids had mac-and-cheese and yes, that was every bit the Stouffer's meal, but not the adult fare. It's certainly not going to compare to a meal at say Victoria & Albert's, but for a sit-down meal at MK, we found it to be very satisfying and would definitely go again.

Regarding the food itself (although you should take any reviews with a grain of salt and see for yourself), although my DH and I thought it was alright, my kids didn't like it at all. They didn't like that kind of mac & cheese, they didn't like the pepper in the veggies and they didn't like the turkey or ham they tried.

My husband enjoyed the meats but not the veggies.

I enjoyed the meats, the delicious salad dressing and the delicious sweet butter for the bread!

Enjoy your planning!

We've done the character dinner twice and loved it both times. We all enjoyed the food very much. My youngest is a very picky eater and is especially particular about her mac & cheese. She thought it was very delicious. We took my parents there on our last trip and they enjoyed the food as well. You will just have to try it for yourself. If I based my dining choices on reviews from these boards, I wouldn't eat anywhere!:rotfl:

We had been warned away from LTT but went there as a last resort for lunch one day. OMG! It was absolutely incredible, we had a fantastic lunch. I am pretty picky about my food too. It was simple, not a lot of sauces, and looked and tasted incredibly fresh for me, especially my green beans. I am sure some components were not fresh that morning, but I can say that if this is what a frozen dinner tastes like, sign me up for more!

I absolutely hated dinner at LTT, but it's been a while- it was so bad I will never eat dinner there again- everything was either salty or bland and mushy. That said, this was years ago, it could be better now, and my memory could be faulty, but I remember not enjoying the meal at all.

Lunch at Liberty Tree, on the other hand, is one of my favorite table service meals. The pot roast is delicious, the salads are yummy and the menu is tons better at lunchtime. We love the Tavern Fried Cheese, too. The only thing bad is that the portions are huge and we waddle out of there. :)

We love the food at LTT! It's a must do every trip and we definitely look forward to it! :)

Add us to the LTT lovers! It was our best character meal of our trip! It is now our tradition for first night in the parks. The character interaction was fantastic!

We really enjoyed the food. My family wouldn't touch a frozen dinner! The food definitely wasn't frozen, and the meats were not processed. We don't really eat mac and cheese, but there was plenty of other food to fill us up. We especially liked the flank steak.
