Is July really the rainiest month to go to WDW? We were thinking of going for my birthday in July, but I get miserable when it is rainy.

How many of you have been rained on during your July visits?

Also, are the crowds unbearable?

but, yes it is a rainy month. We were there from July 13-20 and it rained a little, usually in the late afternoon, all but two days. We only wore our ponchos twice. Plus there is a lot to do indoors when it's raining.

It's definitely bearable, so don't let it dampen your spirits at the "happiest place on earth"!!

Have fun planning!

It rained heavily for almost two full days in December 2001 and the rain was just too overwhelming to enjoy. PLUS on top of the rain it was chilly...I wasn't a happy camper.

I'm thinking we'll give July a shot...I guess you never know till you try!

Thanks for the input and the links! I am going to check them out right now.

I rained once or twice daily when i was there in July. The one draw back, cnacellation of the afternoon parade. The positive, when it rains in the afternoon the crowds seem to leave. Just by virtue of how I planned I walked into MK at about 5pm and had to fight my way up Main Street. It had just started to rain and you would have thought it was the end of the night by the crowds leaving. That makes for the positive, less than 5minutes wait at MK popular rides, walk on to many others.

DH, DS and I were at WDW July 2002 (I've gone in July 3 times total, you WILL have a great time). It rained 3 times in 5 days while we were there on that trip, BUT one night it was raining just before Illuminations was suppose to start. It was pouring and there was a little lightening, so 75% or more of the crowds left! And of course, as can be expected in the rainy season, the rain let up in about 20 minutes, just in time for us to enjoy a wonderful, unobstructed view of Illuminations! The summer storms usually come up quick and leave just as quick as they came. Put on a poncho and have fun! Just be careful of the lightening. My brother lives in Miami and my Dad lives in Bonita Beach and everytime I go for a visit I hear of someone getting struck by lightening. Go inside if there is lightening.

Yep - it's about the rainiest time to go!
Nope - don't think I'd go in July if it were free, not sure about the crowds, but the heat, my God, the heat!

Florida weather is wacky. We went in March, one of the "drier" months and this year it rained a lot. Then we went back in late June and it didn't rain a DROP all week, until our last night, and then just an hour. GO FIGURE!

The summer rain is not usually an all-day thing. It's also so warm out that being wet is no biggie. ANY month is a good month to visit WDW!

Excellent point!

We've only ever been there in December, January and February. It's almost like we don't know what to expect. We were in Nassau in August and it was SO HOT! Couldn't blink without sweating!

We've gone twice in July and I don't think we will again. Not because of the rain but because of the heat! It absolutely poured on us in July 2001, but that was better than the heat we had this past July. In 2001, it kept the temperatures down. We are trying out March this year! :Pinkbounc

We went in July for the first time this year. We've only been in May the previous two years. I didn't notice any difference in the heat. I'm from Texas and it's hot here too. It did rain a little one day. We happened to be in Epcot and there was a lot to do indoors but we went out in the rain and it was really fun. The park was almost deserted and it was neat just to walk around in that atmosphere. Also, there was a breif shower one day while we were in Animal Kingdom. We loved it then too. When we went in May there was never a drop of rain in either year. We stayed for 9 days in July and only had those two brief rains.

As for the crowds, it was crowed only in MK around the parade times. Every ride had short wait times. Maybe we just know how to get around better after two previous visits but I was expecting giant crowds and just didn't see them. Also, maybe it was the timing of our visit. We went on July 6th and perhaps the 4th crowds were gone and the next weeks crowds hadn't arrived. Well, I'm answering more questions than you asked.
I'd take a July trip if it were free. Is anyone offering? I'd take any trip to WDW in any month if it were free?

We went last July 2002,mid month.I was dreading it as I'd heard about the heat and the crowds of summer.(I've mostly been an off season visitor Oct and May.) I was pleasantly surprised by both! The heat ...it was HOT... but wasn't unbearable like I thought. We went to the parks in the mornings and evenings and hung out at the pool mid afternoons.

Lines weren't bad at all.I don't think we waited over 25 minutes for anything.

I only remember one small thunder shower when we were at MGM and it got over pretty quick. We got into a shop and waited it out.

I'll probably go again in July,we were celebrating my birthday July 9th!! When's yours CRSNDSNY? It's a TERRIFIC place to celebrate no matter how old you are! :D

We went the beginning of July, and it did rain a little each afternoon. Most of the time we were taking a break at our hotel at the time, but a couple of times we were in the parks. The rain was actually a relief because of the heat and it helped relieve the crowds. At MGM and Epcot there are lots of indoor things to do. The rain wouldn't stop me from going in July. The park hours are much longer, so you can still get everything in.

It is July 18th. I really think we're going to give it a shot. It couldn't be any more sweltering (sp?) than Nassau in August. At least then we'd be able to take advantage of the pools, right? And really, is there any better place on the planet to celebrate a birthday??? I think not! ;)

it feels like it! It rained for about 4 hours straight yesterday, and last week, it rained 15 min from my house, while the SUN was OUT! I think it rains more in June myself, this is why I will NEVER go in June again.;) I am sure it will rain in Nov. when I am there for 4 days.;)

The only predicitable thing about Florida weather is that it is UNpredictable.

We were there in December 02 and it rained EVERY day we were there. The MVMCP was a washout. The entrance to OKW was a lagoon and it was downright chilly.

We went back at Easter 03 and that was the BEST weather we enjoyed.

Back again in June 03 and for the entire time we were there (4 days) it RAINED and I mean RAINED every day ALL day. There were thunderstorms that closed pools and I harldy saw a golfer on the course from our window at OKW.

We returned in August 03, and again it rained almost every day we were at WDW and Vero Beach (9 days) and I am taking some serious rain! Again, we saw a few golfers on the course from our window at OKW!

I think this past year has been one of the rainiest I have seen down there. But, I will endure the rain as opposed to the smell of smoke we endured during our trips down in '98 when it was so dry and there were grass fires around us!

Did it ruin my tim there??? NOPE!!!! We put on Ponchos, and trecked around in puddles.
