I keep seeing people getting discounts through AAA for their travel. My questions are- how much would it save you for a room at a moderate resort, deluxe dining plan and park hopper tickets versus going through Disney?

would it be enough of a discount to even try for a deluxe room?

thank you in advance

Our AAA membership is only 35$ a year. There are many other benifits than Disney Discounts and I think you would get your money's worth. Then if a discount comes along you can use. Then Great!!

Here, Here!

If you lock yourself out of the car, having that AAA card is well-worth whatever you paid for it.

Plus, they offer a couple of unique perks for the Disney packages they sell (AAA Diamond Card, and access to the AAA Diamond Parking spots).

I booked a room only( Tickets were a present from Grandma& PopPop) 10 nights at POFQ and saved $334.00 so yes I did save a lot of money and the AAA membership paid for itself

Hey there--

I joined after reading about the discounts others on the boards have received. We saved over $800.00 on our upcoming Poly LVC reservation and about $100.00 on our 3 night May trip to CSR!

Before I joined I called Disney to check and see if the dates and resorts I wanted were available with the AAA discount.

But what I like best is that I don't have to worry about "getting a deal or a PIN code" If I get one great. If not, that's o.k. because I have the AAA discount to fall back on.

It's definitely worth it. We got a 20% discount on a 7 night stay at the Boardwalk Villas - a savings of a little more than $500 off the rack rate. We're also staying 3 nights at a Universal Resort (Portofino Bay) and got a 15% discount there; about $150 off the rack rate. I bought my 2 park unlimited (actually 7 day) pass to Universal for my family of four from AAA and saved about $40. And it's a rare day when I look for a hotel rate for any other traveling and find a lower rate than the AAA rate - and usually those are rates where you have to pay for the room in advance and have no options for a refund if you change your travel plans.

So, just do it! It's definitely worth it.

I know that AAA has it's advantages but you don't have to be a member of AAA to book a Disney package through AAA, atleast where I live you don't. I've booked around 8 Disneyland and Disneyworld packages and received the AAA discounts through our local AAA office and am not a member. I was told that if you call Disney and ask for a AAA discount you will have to show your AAA card. If you use AAA as your travel agent you don't have to show anything...I'm starting to ramble...

I think AAA membership is worth it. There are many benefits in addition to discounts for Disney resorts.

We got a bit over $400 off the price of 8 nights with hoppers and the DDP at the Poly in August. We've saved about this month each of the last 3 trips we've taken, so for us, it certainly is worth it.

I'm not sure about all the offices, but mine did ask for my AAA membership when I booked.

I finally decided to join AAA yesterday. I paid $59....$48 for the year and $11 enrollment fee. Well, I emailed my DU agent the AAA number...she emailed me back and told me I had just saved $63 on my POP reservation in September! It paid for itself in one day...how great is that!

And if you're with someone else and get locked out of their car, AAA's locksmith benefit also applies!

Is it better to book THROUGH AAA or do you get the same discount as asking for the AAA discount through Walt Disney Travel?

I guess my question is kinds the same as the above posters. If I already have a reservation thru Disney can I call and get them to apply the AAA discount once I purchase AAA??:confused3

The discount is the same. However, if you want a package (including the DDP) you must go through AAA to get the AAA discount. Disney can only give you a room only discount.

If you do book a package through AAA, you get a few perks like the AAA Storytime, the diamond parking, and a shopping discount at DTD.

Okay, I thought AAA was car insurance. Am I mistaken???

They do offer insurance. But it's a Motor Club - there are different levels of service that include towing services, locksmith services, and trip planning and various other perks. I got it primarily for the discount at WDW, but truthfully, will feel a little more secure knowing I have it in case of a roadside emergency. Go to their website and check out what is available in your state.

We have booked our last 3 trips thru AAA and have never had a membership. Each time we have been asked if we are members and DH and I tell them, No, the agent (AAA) says thats fine, you don't have to be a member to book a vacation thru them to get the discount price.
I would call your local AAA office and ask if thats the case where you live too. I don't see why it would be any different where you live.
Happy Planning!

I'm wondering the same thing!

AAA is 'worth it' simply for the road service (said the member who's had two flat tires in the last six months, dratted Boston streets, AND locked herself out of the rental car... in Las Vegas). Everything else is just a bonus.

While one of AAA's services is being a full-service Travel Agency, it's interesting that any office/region would offer the same vacation prices to both members and non-members. I know I've always had to show my card.
