Is it worth requesting elevator?

Hi!

Just last week we were delighted to plan a last minute trip to WDW. We got a 1 bed for 13 nights at VWL from May 1. Gotta love that add on with bonus points :cheer2:

Anyway, I have requested non-smoking as DH has asthma but nothing else. I figured that as it is a small resort with lots of woods views I cannot go wrong. But now I am wondering if I should call and add 'near elevator' to the booking. Are the corridors long at VWL? Are the rooms near the elevators in the most central location for getting to the pool etc?

Also, are there many 1 beds on the top floor with those dormer type balconies? I hear they are nice because the rooms have vaulted ceilings but I am thinking that for DD (nearly 2) that will be very frustrating as she won't be able to see out, I don't want her trying to get on a chair to see out or demanding we hold her up.

Don't get me wrong, I know requests are just requests, I will be happy with the dumpster view, I am so pleased to be making this trip. Just got my mind ticking over thinking about this trip.

Part of me thinks I should just leave it to fate, not request any location or view...............but I am a control freak  That gets me thinking, anyone got a link to a VWL resort room plan showing locations of various villas?

In my view the length of halls is overblown. Think about it, if the length of a hallway in a resort is too much walking -- how are you ever going to enjoy WDW where walking several miles a day is common. And at VWL the walk from WL to the villas is at least as long as any hallway.

Yes the views at VWL are fabulously peaceful, although there are some that have said certain rooms are less desirable. There is a post that has that information. If I can find a link I will post it.

I am always surprised we don't have the "elevator noise" issue. Being near an elevator is noisier. One elevators make noise and two folks get off elevators making noise, kids make noise waiting on the elevators etc....

Hi Jim
Thanks so much for that link, it was exactly what I was looking for. You are right, that corridor isn't that long anyway. Nothing compared to the miles of corridors I have walked at The Beach Club (not villas)

Do you (or anyone) know if those dormer balcony, 5th floor rooms with vaulted ceilings are the 2 bed dedicateds on the 'longer' corridor?

Thanks again,
