I am just wondering if it's considered rude, what the general opinion is.....

Am I doing it once or twice, or all day long?

If I had to make disgusting noises all day long I'd probably have mercy on my coworkers and stay home if I was that sick, or take a decongestant.

I do. I try to not sound like an elephant. When you have a runny nose, you can't go running to the bathroom every few minutes. If you're sick and coughing, sniffling, blowing etc. You should probably be home but if it's allergies or just a random dust sneeze and a blow, I don't see the problem.

The rude part is if you are touching all over shared things after (office equipment, phones, door handles, light switches). If I have to blow my nose at my desk I will use a napkin to grab the door handle until I can wash them and/or wipe down anything I've touched with a clorox wipe.

Nah, as long as you at least try to do it quietly. Unlike the trumpeting elephant that apparently wandered into our work area this morning <sigh>.....

If you have to honk like Felix Unger, I'm sure your coworkers would appreciate it if you went to the restroom.

NO, it isn't rude at all. Here is another way to look at it. Would you rather the person use their hands and then wipe it on their shirt. Then the person touches a door knob and spreads his/her nasty nose snot to someone else.

0r the person who shoots the boogies in the basket in the hallway or next to a desk. Yuck! That happened at my work last year.

It depends. It you are sick and are blowing, and blowing, and blowing, yeah, go to the bathroom to do it so you can wash your hands. If you need to do a general quick blowing of the nose, not a big deal.

I said other. Are you in a noisy place where you won't disturb others? Yes. Quiet, where others can hear and might be annoyed? No.

The sound of nose blowing makes me want to simultaneously hurl and punch the person who was too lazy to walk to the bathroom to blow their nose. You should be washing your hands afterwards, so you'd need to be in the bathroom anyway.

Choices are:

1) blow nose in cubicle.
2) take frequent breaks from work to go blow nose in restroom.
3) stay home sick a lot.

Blowing one's nose in the cubicle seems least likely to cause consternation among fellow employees.

I have had sinus problems for several months now. They are not sure why. I have to blow several times a day. If I had to get up everytime I blew I might as well stay in the bathroom. And no I am not "sick" and I use tissues.

It could be a Candida yeast infection. I had sinus problems for YEARS. It was getting to the point that I thought I'd have to get a Cpap mask to sleep at night my sinus problems were getting so bad. I recently went to an Integrative doctor about something else. I named a medicine I had an allergic reaction to, and he suddenly said, it sounds like you have yeast. He went through a long list of symptoms, most of which I had. Then he said, SINUS problems, and BINGO! Along with the other problems, we had a winner.

I was first put on Nystatin, and within THREE days my symptoms went away, along with puffy inflammation in my face and tummy. A scummy coating that I used to get in my mouth after only two hours of brushing my teeth was gone! I've had to change my diet so as not to feed the yeast, which is very hard as almost everything I am used to eating contributes to yeast growth. And I take supplements to keep the yeast away. When I cheat, and have a little sugar or the wrong carbs, the next morning I wake up with sinus problems again and a puffy face.
