Is it rude if my family gets in line for an attraction while i run and get a FP and then I get in line with them?

I would suggest they wait at the attraction entrance for you, and then you all get in line together.

It depends on the situation.

If it's TSM in the morning and the FP line is as long as the stand-by line and you have to pass a bunch of people to catch up with your family, then I'd say yes, it's rude.

If the line is at stand-still and you don't have to pass many people to catch up, then I don't think it's as rude. (Passing people to get to the very front of the line = bad; Passing people to get to the middle/near end of the line = not as bad)

But I guess the answer to your question is... when you have to pass people in line to catch up with your family, people are probably going to give you dirty stares and think you're rude. If you want to make sure you don't offend anyone, then your best bet is to have your family wait for you before getting in line or just let them go ahead and ride without you.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with it but there are some people (especially when waiting for a particularly popular attraction) who can become quite hostile. I generally think the practice is frowned upon but you may not get as negative a response as you might if say you alone were holding a spot for multiple family members rather than them holding a spot for just you. Just smile when you get there and thank the people behind you for being patient ... it is hard to be mad at someone who is smiling! :lovestruc

Not as rude as you standing in line and then having your family (try to) join up with you. But a lot of people will argue that any line jumping is rude. Others won't care. This is a question frequently asked and frequently the subject of hot and usually acrimonious debate. Be like the Scouts and Be Prepared...:surfweb:popcorn::

If I ever have to leave a line or join one, I like to have one of my kids with me. People then think it was a bathroom emergency = less dirty stares. But it usually is a bathroom emergency so I don't feel bad about rejoining a line...

I wouldn't care, but I suspect I am in the minority. Sometimes practicality outweighs etiquette imo and, for example, if the scenario were slightly changed and you and a little one were waiting out of line to keep him/her from getting restless, I would prefer you do so....keeps everyone happier :)

Yes

Just have your family wait at the entrance, or have them ride something else and meet up at a 2nd ride

Depending on which ride and who's around you, it can be taken very, very badly and considered quite rude. There are some in standby who feel the need to scream at the people in the FP line as they zip by so tensions in standby can run pretty high. In some ride lines, such as TSM, ToT, and RRC, I've seen CM's disallow this practice.

I would say that you get your FPs and then head into a line for a ride together.

At popular attractions, like Toy Story Mania, CMs at the entrance announce that you need to have your whole party together before you enter the line. So rude? Everyone has a different opinion of rude. But apparently Disney's policy is that they should wait for you before they get in line.

That said: popcorn::

We had this happen to us at the new (at the time) toy story ride at HS. It was right at rope drop and my fmaily and I rushed to get in line. As we got there the line was already forming and was a little long. About 15 minutes later a guy came up from behind to join his wife and 2 or 3 girls in front of us. He had been getting fast passes for the toy story ride.
I thought it was a bit rude but it became almost unbearbale whne they all stated "high fiving" each other commenting how awesome they were for getting the passes and riding the ride.
Maybe it was just the mood I was in but I still think it's rude so I guess i'm in the same mood.

Really? Again?

Yes it is rude to push past people to join your family. Have them wait for you before joining the line.

:lmao: Yep, new week. New month. Same old question. :rotfl2:

Soon to be followed by the ever popular:

Can my family hold tables at CS restaurants?

Fastpass enforcment

and, of course,

Can I park at DTD and ride to the parks?

Yes. It's technically line cutting, and your family should wait at the entrance to the line for you.

I would suggest they wait at the attraction entrance for you, and then you all get in line together.

The quoted item is what you should do.

Anything else really is rude. Especially if it's a fast moving line. Many people probably wouldn't even let you get by them.

Wow, people in standby yelling at those in the FP line? Talk about a bunch of grumpies at WDW! :confused3 In a perfect world, I would rather not stand in line either, but can't imagine yelling at someone because they were able to get a FP when I couldn't/didn't.

Also, can't imagine being the people who high-fived for getting on TSM and having someone sneak into line after getting the FPs. Might as well just say "nanny nanny boo boo" (sp?) to everyone around you! ;)

Getting over my amazement at guests yelling at fellow guests just because they have FPs... I would say that if you are concerned that people will think you are rude, don't try to squeeze past them in the line to get to your family members waiting ahead. A lot of us understand that there can be emergency circumstances (potty trip for the kid - or even an emergency for an adult), but I think that many repeat guests are burnt out by the people who really abuse the goodwill of their fellow guests by having one friend hold a spot while the others went to ride something else.
