Is it rude if.....

Sorry i did a quick check & didnt see the answer to this. I am glad i asked because I must have more patience & compassion for other people than some because really in the grand scheme of things 1 person wouldn't make my wait any longer considering the would be going in the same car as the family all ready in line.

And there it is....:surfweb:

OP has been a member here since 2006 ~ I'd hardly call that a NEW person. If so then I am new too. :confused3

Please.... if you have read this board even on and off over 6 years you have seen this debate before.

I've only been a member since '09 and even I know the answer! :rolleyes1

I feel like, if you need to ask whether or not it's rude, you already know the answer and just want someone to make you feel better about what you're doing.

Yes, it's rude.

:thumbsup2 Especially when you come back with an inflammatory follow up post.

Like others have said.. you are just 1 person, but so is everybody else. And what constitutes a good reason for line jumping? "Ohh.. I was just..." Getting a fast pass for another ride? Sleeping for an extra 10 minutes? Having a beer?

Well, as long as you bring me a beer too I will let you line cut me!:drinking1 Actually though one of those awesome orange adult drinks from Epcot is a better choice, if anyone is going to be there next week and wants to get by me.;)

But in any other case, yes it is rude. And I agree with those who say if you have to ask, you probably already know the answer, deep down inside.

I'm curious why people start these posts if the end result is going to be "I'm doing it anyway!"

So if people are just going to do it anyway..... why ask?? Go, cut in oblivion! Wouldn't it be better then KNOWING you are upsetting some people?

FWIW ~ like I said above... I don't think it is that big of a problem.... save TSM....and I also wouldn't say anything to you or give you a dirty look or let it "ruin" my vacation for one second.... but that still doesn't make it the right thing to do.

I personally can't imagine having to smoosh (not Jersey Shore style smoosh) past people .... YUCK! It is all I can do to stand in a confined space with all those people I don't know ~ never mind trying to share a space meant for one by turning sideways and shimming past them. Uck!!! THAT doesn't sound like fun at all to me!

For me it depends on the attitude of the person trying to get to their family. The one's that just push through with no thought to those around them I find rude, if it is just one person and they are courteous it wouldn't bother me.

The actual answer to this question (which you won't get here) is that in Dis world it is a sin beyond imagining. People here (mostly the same people over and over) act like it is absolutely an inexcusable disgrace that anyone would even consider doing this.

Whatever.

In the real world - i.e. when you are actually at the parks - people basically couldn't care less. People join their friends and families in lines all the time, all kinds of places, and nobody thinks anything of it.

On here there are often threads where people talk about the looks and the mean comments and the line blocking you can expect if you do this. None of this is true.

My husband has a bad back and sometimes, rather than use a GAC, he waits on a bench while the rest of us wait in line. Then he joins us when we near a convenient access point further up in line. We've never had anyone say a word about it, or certainly never have anyone act like a third grader and try and block him from "cutting." Eesh.

It does not bother me at all. I am at disney to enjoy myself and I expect to wait in long lines. I am never in a hurry to get anywhere fast. I mean they are only rides..I just think to myself well maybe the person meeting up with there family is only this park today and I will be back at this park 2 more time before I go back home. I personally always make my family stand together which means if 1 wants a drink we all wait but not everyone thinks like that and I am okay with it. I am on vacation so not much bothers me at that time!!!!:cool1:

Well if u wanna be rude ( the exact thing im trying not to be which is why i asked the ?) then double check to see that i just started getting on recently and have not been since 2006 and in other post i stated i never used the FP system so I am trying to learn the right way to use it. Don't worry I won't line jump i got the answer I asked for. I am also going to refrain from saying anymore comments for some are ruining my happy Disney mo-joe. Hope u all have a blessed day.

I wasn't being rude. Merely pointing out that I don't consider someone with more than say... 100 post and being a member for 6 years new.

There are typically 2-3 threads per week on this is all I'm trying to point out and it always ends bad.

Don't apologize, in fact, I'm sorry you got some sarcastic replies. Some people here can't quite seem to grasp that new people join and ask repeat questions every day because they are NEW to the boards.

Whether it is a new poster or a seasoned DISboarder you have described the basis of a discussion board.
It would be a less busy Disney community if folks stopped posting and we only had to read the faq.

If there is a thread that interests you please jump in. There is no harm in folk deciding not to post if the thread and subject in their opinion has been done to dead, is not in their interest sphere. Others on the otherhand will want to join in with comments to help the poster with their trip planning :)

Thank you for showing us how truly considerate and compassionate you truly are:rolleyes: Buh bye.

This is a hot button topic,be polite to each other.Respectful of others opinions and absolutely no personal attacks. If this thread goes south I will close it immediately.Plus issue infractions if if called for. Thank You Moderator Danny

And here we go again...

Yes, it is rude. It might benefit your family but will interfere with other people plans. Besides, Disney rules states that all members of your party must be together when entering an attraction queue. Why can't they wait for you at near the attraction?

And to whoever mentioned taking a kid with you so people think it was just a bathroom break it doesn't work with me. I'll only let you pass to rejoin your family if I saw you leaving in the first place.

Wow, people in standby yelling at those in the FP line? Talk about a bunch of grumpies at WDW! :confused3

It's because the people in the standby line KNOW all of those people's FPs expired hours ago, but they just did what they wanted and abused the system by using them late. :rotfl2:

No excuse after March 7th.

P.S. The above is meant to be a good-natured joke. Please don't close the thread or issue me an infraction over it. :)

I know that you are just joking:lmao::rotfl:- see this is me laughing!

But I would like to respectfully and politely disagree with your assessment of the reason for the standby people yelling at those happy fastpassers.

It's because they are jealous and kicking themselves for not paying the extra $$ to buy those fastpasses.;)

Is it rude if my family gets in line for an attraction while i run and get a FP and then I get in line with them?

I guess I am in the minority. I don't see the big deal regarding the scenario you present. To me it is just good logistics. The addition of one person to a group in most cases probably doesn't make any difference in wait time to those behind as the same number of ride vehicles will be used. However, if only one person stands in line and is then joined by a group of people, that might be frowned upon, but I wouldn't let it upset me.

To me it comes down to one question...

Why are you and your family more important then anyone else in the parks?

:thumbsup2 And more to the issue at hand: why are you and your family more important than the other people you're pushing past in line?

It's funny how hard it is for some folks to grasp the concept of entering a queue together...

:lmao:

Actually, I think about 50% of them are kicking themselves for not spending the extra money on fast passes. The other 50% have no clue that fast passes even exist.

Seriously, though, if someone is "calling out" the FP line, they almost certainly do not know about or understand FP and truly think that a bunch of people just decided to cut by making a beeline to the front on the other side of the chain.

I must have more patience & compassion for other people than some

Maybe you could use that extra dose of compassion to consider the people who have waited in line while you were doing something else and exercise your special patience to wait your turn?
