To me it comes down to one question...
Why are you and your family more important then anyone else in the parks?
Compassion has nothing to do with it, where do you draw the line? Is it ok if it is one person who just went to get a drink, or one person who had to use the restroom etc, and if you do then so will the Jones family and the Smith family etc, and then you have lots of people ahead of you.
If a member of your party does have a bad back or some other issue, then I would get a GAC or at least explain to people..."gee could you let Fred join us, he has a bad back and it is really acting up today"...but what would the OP say..."gee could I rejoin my family I was getting FPs"

And when it comes to kids and bathrooms, we have always made it a point to use the restrooms before we enter a long line. We have been to WDW, DL and many other parks and have never had to leave a line for a bathroom emergency.

Slow down a bit, get your passes and walk on together. It won't make that big of a differnce and if everyone does it the whole day is more pleasant for everyone.
