Is it possible to get burgers without a whole wheat bun?

we dont usually eat burgers at home ....so we loved the burgers that the grease fell thru the slots on the stove top...they tasted pretty good after being in the parks for part of the day ....I really looked forward to having one of their burgers..

I can't figure out why they don't use better buns at the World. I have yet to meet a single person who actually likes the wheat/grain rolls they serve.

We were just talking about this the other day. Our whole family finds the buns tasteless, and don't like the texture either. I wish I had a choice of either bun. I wonder which one would be asked for the most? :scratchin

It was part of their idea to force healthy eating on us for the 7 or 8 days we are on vacation. This frustrates me to no end.

We are adults and on vacation - we can make our own decisions

We agree with you.

That's your opinion. But I like the burgers at Disney once in a while.

We like a burger on vacation too. We used to really like the bugers at WDW especially at Beaches and Cream.

What's so healthy about forcing wheat buns on people, many of whom are on a dining plan that forces dessert on them every meal? :confused3 Why not just offer it as an option if people want it? Let the rest of us have our soft and unhealthy white buns!!!!!

Uh oh! Disney does not like logic. I wish they did, though.

If they are going to force the non-white buns on us, why can't they serve better ones. Sara Lee, for instance, makes a bun (named Delightful?) that is good & doesn't fall apart. What we do is go to Pecos Bills or Cosmic Ray's and only use the bottom of the bun. We load up at the toppings bar & eat it open-faced---the bun holds up ok that way.

I wonder about the non disney restaurants?

Big River Grille or the Swan/Dolphin?

we'll be staying on the Boardwalk in January - and I'll try and and see if I remember to check them out!

I actually prefer wheat buns. Once you get used to wheat, white bread tastes like cardboard.

ITA - unfortunately my experience with the buns at Disney - they dont resemble, taste, or act like the wheat buns I use at home... :confused3

Now I was reading a Live Trip Report on the Review boards - and Gretchen posted a picture from Beaches and Cream - the bun looked white - but it looks like it will hold?

hehe, that's what happened to my taste for white rice once I got used to brown, it tastes like a mouthful of paste. But I did notice that the wording of some of the posts made it seem like not all posters who hated those wheat buns were white bread people, maybe some or several were wheat bread people and the particular ones offered were just really bad. :confused3

Either way, a choice would seem like a lot better way for the restaurants at "the world" to go with rather than one size fits all.

You can actually get a burger, kobi beef I think, at Chef's de France on a brioche bun with fried onions and a tomato mix topped with Bernaise sauce. Of course that is putting butter on a burger. No food police there.

It's Angus beef. If you want a Kobe beef burger, I believe Yak & Yeti TS has one.

I do too in real life, but Disney's wheat buns are like nothing I've ever had before... The closest comparison I can draw is week-old whole grain buns, so dried out that they crumble at the touch. The sort that you'd toss to the birds or grind up for bread crumbs at home because they're too stale to serve. I wouldn't have any problem with wheat buns at WDW if they were good wheat buns, but there's no excuse for what they're serving.

I'm just guessing, but I think it is all about saving a few pennies...

I often will get a burger, load it up with what I want and eat it without the bun using a fork and knife.

It's yummy and an easy way to avoid the whole wheat bun.

I don't know if this was already said, but you can get an Ener-G bun at all of the CS places. My problem is actually the opposite, I would LOVE to get a whole wheat (I only eat whole wheat breads, pastas, etc.) bun but they are not vegan. So I have to ask for the Ener-G tapioca buns too.

Thank you! I will call them and see what they say. If no subsitutions can be made maybe I will just try and pack some in my suitcase in a tupper ware container so they dont get squished :rotfl:

This is exactly what I do. I have a dairy allergy so I can't eat those buns. The tapioca buns are AWFUL! DO NOT EAT THEM! lol :goodvibes Even my dad, who eats EVERYTHING, wouldn't eat it.

I bring a sandwich container and buy white bread and bring it into the parks. That way I can use it as a hot dog bun, hamburger bun, or have a PB&J sandwich, etc. I always ask for the burger with no bun and it's waaaaaay cheaper too! I asked for a hot dog with no bun and they gave me two! My dad got a meal out of it too!
