Is it possible to avoid traffic when travelling to SeaWorld from Anaheim?

We will buy CityPass SoCal for our upcoming vacation to the West and we will stay in Ahaneim area for all the trip.

I know that Sea World will be included in that pass but at first we had decided to skip it mainly because we were afraid to be stuck in traffic for a long time when going there but I realize that I could change my mind if we could find a day or it could be doable.

I already give up travelling in San Diego area on weekdays because highways seem to be crowded as hell all the time but what do you think about sunday august 11th ? Could it be possible to avoid traffic during that specific day?

We could leave Anaheim at around 7 AM and arrive at the park for rope drop; ride the coasters at opening and the remaining attraction until late afternoon; leave at around 5 PM, take diner in San Diego area and get back to Anaheim before 10 PM.

Will it be doable to avoid traffic if we're travelling during that time?

Generally speaking, weekends are not as bad as the weekends. Last month, I drove from Anaheim to San Diego on a Sunday and it clear all the way. However, getting back on Sunday night might be a different story. People driving back from a little getaway either from SD or TJ. I would expect 45mins-1hr there in the morning, and anywhere from 1hr30-2hrs back. Also, the big killer on the weekends is when they do construction, which I really don't know how to check.

 I think one of those "weekends" was supposed to be a weekdays.

I am interested in this also, as we are doing the same thing starting August 21st. I want to go to sea world on the wknd to avoid DLR on the weekend, which I understand is very crowded. I really want to go the SD zoo as well, but I'm not sure how to fit that in...

!!! Exactly! 45 min to an hour!?!?! I live 5 minute from Sea World and the fastest I ever made it to DL was 1:20 and it was when all the stars aligned and I was going about 5 over.
