Trip not looking too good...Dad still in hospital, he does have pneumonia, but they have no idea whats wrong w/his stomach. The Xray and the CT scan showed nothing. But he's dehydrated, etc.
Dr hasnt even started their rounds yet, so no Dr has even seen him. The nurses are aware that I am SUPPOSED to be leaving Thursday, but they can't do anything. Said the Dr will give me a better idea if we can take trip, how long dad may be in there, etc.


DVC said I have until tomorrow to cancel and not lose the points.

Just booked AK for Next December. Booked the Savannah view. Any tips on room view . I never stayed here so I don't know which ones r the better rooms. Any advice I would appreciate it.

I think I have to cancel my trip My father is in the hospital, started out complaining about his stomach...Thought it was just a stomach bug, it had been going through the family last week...Yesterday he was breathing funny, brought him to hospital, they admitted him...They don't know whats going on w/the stomach, the CT scan and the Xray didn't show anything. However, he's got pnuemonia, thats why he was breathing funny. My plane leaves in the less than 48 hrs, but I've got the bad feeling we wont be on it...Dad lives w/us, I am the only child, etc. There really isn't anyone close by if God forbid I went and something happened.
To make matters worse, DVC (and the rest of Disney reservations) are closing again tomorrow for upgrade, so I think if I cancel, I have until today instead of tomorrow to call and not lose all those points

And to make matters even worse, today is my birthday, and it sucks

Say a prayer and cross your fingers...I'll update when I can.

You are right Elin - I know the Wanyama (sunset) safari anyone staying at the lodge or Kidani can do - but the sunrise, you DO have to be booked club level.

You have a Savannah view booked - other than that I'd probably request 3rd floor near the lobby, zebra trail - that is MY favorite area - others like being out farther on the savannahs - but that is my preference. AND you'll love the lodge - stick around and ask any questions you may have - we'll try to help!!!

Well, were glad to have ya!!!! Yeah, when you book, or well, you've booked already, you can just go ahead and call back and tell them you want to add a REQUEST to your reservation - tell them 3rd floor near the lobby, zebra trail, if you look on a map, that is to the right side of the lobby. I like being there particularly because it's close to everything - plus the 3rd floor IS lobby level - I hate elevators!! and I get vertigo really bad, so, being up high makes me nuts out on the balcony - plus I think you can see the animals really well from the 3rd floor. Anyway - you will probably get others input - then you can make your decision.

Ok, here's the latest, the Dr finally showed up to talk to us around 2pm...Said she doesn't think he has pneumonia at all Said she thinks it's some kind of gastro virus...She THINKS he may be able to come home from the hospital tomorrow....She said she is 90% sure I can go to WDW on Thurs, but I'm not as sure as she is, lol...I'm all he has, I have to know he is 100% and can be on his own for 8 days.
I decided to check w/JetBlue, they said if we needed to change to Fri instead of Thurs (that would give me an extra day to make sure he's ok) it would be $184pp, that includes the change fee and the difference in price...But thats the cheapest flight that leaves on Fri.
I'd rather be able to go on this darned trip, and not have to deal w/getting the points back, because who knows whats going to happen in our future? The way things have been going with us, the devil you do know, is better than the devil you don't.
I'll keep you all posted!

Wow, so sorry to hear about your Dad. I'll be praying for him and your family. Good luck with your decision. There is no right or wrong answer, just do what is right for you.
If is wasn't December (OK tomorrow), I would recommend checking on availability to see if you could move it a week or 2, but this time of year unfortunately, that won't be an option.

Again, good luck with your decision and I hope that he improves quickly.
