Hi everyone! I got home from my latest WDW trip Tuesday morning (2:10 AM) after our plane got delayed 4.5 hours due to weather in Boston.

My nephew & I were at Kidani for 10 days and had an awesome time! :yay: This was my first time on the Pembe savanna and I have to say that I enjoyed it. We were almost as far from the lobby as you can be (2nd to last bead) but since we had a car, we were right near the elevator to the garage so that was nice. We saw lots of animals from our balconny: water bucks, okapi, and other antelope type creatures.

I am glad you had a good time, Robbie. Thanks for posting a great daily update on facebook, too!

I will be taking plenty of pictures. :thumbsup2
I will make an attempt of doing a live report with pics. :cutie:

Have a wonderful trip. Looking forward to your pictures upon your return. I am another DISer looking for ways to make it through the last few weeks until our trip.

The flight will be interesting. My grandson (3) doesn't know we are flying. He thinks we are taking Amtrak again. This will be his first time flying. Camera is raring to go.

I bet he will find it exciting and fun. Isn't it fun being there for our DGK's first's. :lovestruc

Transplanted from wendy's thread:

I thought you all might want to know.

I haven't been around nearly as much as I used to be (work has been nuts). But I wanted to pass this along when I saw it. I know Wendy was a constant contributor to these threads...

Pilfrek, good to see you here, would love to hear about your vow renewal when you have time. Sorry that things at work have been difficult.

Thank you for letting us know about Wendy, so sorry to hear this happened to Wendy and her husband. She is such a special person with a joyful personility. Sending prayers for Wendy and her family. :grouphug:

Robbie, I am so glad you had a great time, welcome back you have been missed. :). I imagine your nephew was on blown away staying at Kidani with that great view. Did you take pictures? Hope you took lots of photo's.

Yup, went off without a hitch (or, rather, WITH one, if you'll excuse the pun). Someday I'll find time to upload and post pictures...maybe even recount it. Suffice to say, wife was surprised, ecstatic, excited, and very very happy! A good time was had by all. Well, except for my Sister in law..but that's another story (pale skinned people from the NE US NEED TO USE SUNSCREEN!!).

The problem is: I came back from the trip to professional chaos, and it hasn't died down yet. Won't until (I'm pretty sure) late October. Then we'll have gotten through the staff changes, regulatory reviews (FOUR OF THEM THIS YEAR!!), state and national reporting requirements (and massive changes), and everything else. Back more to the status quo.

I've pretty much disappeared from the DIS, except for occasional lurking. The past couple of days I've been "back" while some very long database queries are running and my machine is otherwise held hostage. I'll be back to "normal" come Monday...unfortunately.

I hope you do find the time someday! It sounds just wonderful! Too bad for SIL though. :scared1:

I understand the work thing - real life takes over sometimes. :sad2: October is coming quickly! Let's all hope for more long database queries!

Thank you so much pilferk for this update about Wendy - prayers are being sent for a very speedy recovery!!

Quick question, do the room in jambo house have a sliding door between the vanity area and the main bedroom? I know they had them at CSR when we stayed there but haven't noticed any on the room pics of AKL.

Many thanks!

No door or partition of any type; it's around the corner from the bed(s). AKL have the smallest rooms (along with WL) of the Deluxes.

Welcome Back! Yeah the weather was awful here, sorry your flight was affected:headache: It's ok if you get 4.5 extra hours @ WDW though:rotfl:

Glad you had a great time!:woohoo:
10 days @ Kidani sounds like :cloud9:

We had a one bedroom CL at Jambo House and there was a sliding door closing off the bathroom from the hallway and bedroom.

I'm so excited! I just upgraded out POP Century vacation to AKL. I've not told my husband. AKL is his absolutely favorite place in the world LOL. This is our first grown up only trip since our daughter left for college last year. He is the best husband, I couldn't ask for a better one, and I've been trying to figure out something special to do for him, and decided on the upgrade.

I'm going to try to drag this out as long as I possibly can. He thinks we are going to take the ME over to AKL for dinner at Boma on our arrival day.

I'm so excited!!! I booked this trip last October and still have until Dec. but atleast its getting closer! It's been a real hard year and I'm ready for a vacation!!! We are doing a land sea adventure and I can just barely wait!the only thing that has kept me from trying to move my trip up is my girls joining me!I haven't read all the threads becasue until Monday I still didn't know the girls were coming too. It's too late to change rooms to get bunkbeds so are we going to be able to put a single bed mattress on the floor....2 of us snore loudly so we can't sleep together and there will be 4 in the room now that my DGD i and DD is coming!!!!we won't be violating anything as far as numbers in the room but I also know a rollaway won't work! thanks for the info! J

Binoculars are fun, but if packing is tight, I wouldn't worry about them.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to come share my excitement! My fiance and I just booked our honeymoon for next April at AKL. This will be the first time we've stayed above a value resort, so we're really excited. Also hoping it will be worth the price (I'm sure it will!!) as there are NO discounts for our dates yet. We're getting married April 1, flying out to Disney April 2, and staying until April 10. Reading through this thread really helped with our decision!

Well the time has finally come. I was running around all day.:laundy: I hope Wendy feels better. I will do my best with the live TR:thumbsup2 We are leaving from Newark airport. :scared1: I would have preferred JFK. But its the same distance. On Continental (darn $25 first bag fee). But sister booked flights. Flight leaves at 10:45am and should reach Orlando by 1:15pm.:cool1:

Will definitely let you know where they put us. Requested close to lobby.:worship: 2 br--dedicated---sv at Kidani.

What a wonderful spot for a honeymoon! Keep checking for discounts; if one is available in your catagory, they can apply it.
