It's for Florida residents and AP holders. Costs about $75/year. You get 20% off food AND beverages (including alcohol!) in most restaurants. Translate: 20% off dinner and wine at Jiko :cool1:
Here's a link to allearsnet w/ some info:
http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

ETA: They now automatically add 18% gratuity when you use your TiW card. I always tip 20%+ so it doesn't bother me.

I love the TIW card:love: Fiance is buying it this year when he renews AP in October (hate that I can't get him DVC discount until we're married, I understand it, I just don't like it:rotfl:)

Do you really think that you get that good of a deal, when your discount is 20% but they add tip of 18.5%.

You're still getting 20% off the food and bev.
If you don't tip at least 18% then it would not be a good deal.

We usually tip 20%, that being said, it seems like it is a wash, I mean you save 20% and then they add 18% back on for tip, so overall you are saving 20% on your meal, and at a cost of $75.00 you would have to dine out a lot to make up the difference right or spend a lot for dinner. Maybe a date night to V&A would be in order....

Or am I just not seeing this right?

Ok I found this thread, and they mention that it would take $375.00 in purchase to cover the cost of the $75 for the TiW.

It's not really a wash, IMHO, it is a 20% savings, you're going to tip regardless, right?
So, without TIW the bill is 20% more!
And I like you can use it @ certain bars just for drinks!

I agree with both of you.
Yes, you're saving 20% off food and beverages. The TiW basically pays for your tip. However, yes, that 20% of "savings" would need to equal > the $75 to become a savings.
YES, I love being able to save at the bars/lounges but this has more often than not been more trouble than it is worth (at least if it's just a glass or three of wine). At AKL's Victoria Falls, Poly's Tambu Lounge and CR's Outer Rim, I've had to wait while the bartender calls a manager to approve the discount. Sometimes it just hasn't been worth it to me and I've passed. But on a $120 dinner, TiW is always worth it to me ;), not to mention a $135 custom cake or $200 stint at Chef Mickey's :scared1: For my family, TiW is definitely a good deal :teeth:

Yeah, you're right, waiting for the managers to approve the TIW at some of the smaller bars can be a PITA...We've had some waits, once in a while if it's just drinks, we won't even bother.

Interesting! We don't drink alcohol but still did the TiW card last year because we figured it would save us money - I'm certain between the 3 trips we spent more than that on table service meals. We currently only have 2 trips planned for this coming year, I'm hoping to squeeze in a 3rd, but debating on the TiW. Thank you for the dollar figure that makes it balance out. :thumbsup2

ETA:Just wanted to mention if any of you are on the fence on when to get tix MYW and AP price increase Thurs 8/5

:cool1: I just bought our first AP tickets this week. We saved about $300 using our DVC discount vs buying tickets for our Dec and then July trip. DH is already scheming on how we could get another trip in.:worship: But with his work schedule:teacher: it will be higly unlikely.

I see alot of you use the TIW card. I think for us the dining plan is still the way to go. For $10 per kid to feed them all day. I can't find anything better.:rotfl: But I will be curious to see if they change the DDP for 2011 like the rumors are stating:confused3

We bought an annual pass and TiW on our last trip (our first DVC trip and our first stay at AKV). We used to do the dining plan, but we had my Mom who eats next to nothing, so it wasn't worth it. I think it worked out better. We used at both Boma and Sanaa (yummy). We did a few other nice dinners and will use it again for our Oct. trip. We don't usually have a drink either, but with just the meals we probably came out close to even...and we still have 2 more trips to use it.:cool1:

It seems when you have children the DDP works out really well. Our little guy will be 3 on this coming trip, but he still doesn't eat enough to justify the plan. Most meals he'll just eat off my plate! Now when he gets older....that will be a different story I'm sure!

I'm also very curious as to what the 2011 DDP will be. I heard a rumor they were taking away desserts, adding a snack and increasing the price? Is that right?

I'm with you. I love my TIW. I also normally tip 20% so having them add a 18% tip for me really isn't an impact.

I wish MY husband was scheming to fit in another trip :rotfl: No such luck!
Glad the DDP works for you. We've never done it.

TiW is great for us, too. Meals are not the focus of our trips, although they used to play a much bigger role (character meals, etc.)
Can't wait to try Sanaa for dinner. So far we've only been for lunch, which was very nice.
