I am hoping ya'll can answer another question for me Okay...maybe more than one. My sister and her hubby just booked AKL with free dining. But they have a standard view. Are there different standard views? Is there one that is better than another that they should put a request in for? If they were to change to pool view in there one better than another?

OMG! My family was #3422 as well! LOL. I just had to reply to say that. We also had the connecting King room next to it to the right (#3420). Gorgeous views of the Uzima pool from both...especially in the early morning with the steam rising from the pool. And you're right, the bunk bed room did feel a bit roomier.

AWWW - Thanks Bestie!!! ( I didn't get ONE dome on this trip - ) we never made it over to AKL - the trip was good, we went with the mindset that it was going to be HOT and Crowded - but really, we didn't wait for anything - it was actually MUCH worse crowd wise in May.

AND - no offense to those of you who like SSR - but we HATED it - it's just NOT for us - didn't like anything about it. Sorry! But, I'm glad to be home - and we're looking forward to the Dec. trip at Kidani!!!

Welcome back Wendy. Happy Friday ya'll. Two weeks and 6 days until our trip.....I'm totally buggin' (can you tell I have a teen?). I have Boma (of course) booked for our upcoming trip but finally managed to grab Sanaa!! I hope this will help me overcome my urge to switch from WL to AKL....

Wendy, we hated it too! We didn't even stay one night. That is how we got to Kidani. Not a fan of the "open" concept. I like to be under one roof. We got lost finding our way back to our room and that was the final straw...we were O-U-T of there.

We have ordered food from a bar menu at Victoria Falls before. Unless they have changed it in the last year or so there are some food items to get at the bar! (We had the Taste of Africa that you can also get at Jiko.)

Welcome back Wendy! Sorry to hear you didn't like SSR. We prefer the "under 1 roof" resorts as well. SSR was very pretty and there were aspects we liked, but we like Kidani much, much better. I'm thinking BWV is going to be a contender though..the location + under 1 roof....!

We have never eaten at a restaurant at AKL, if we wanted a dinner that was nice and fun for just the two of us, what would you suggest?

Yeah, it just wasn't working for us. We like the "all under one roof" too - it was so big, and the room was just SO-SO - and the busses were hokey - we just didn't like it at all.

Yeah, we considered moving, but, decided we'd stick it out - we just didn't like anything at all about it - it's too big and spread out, nothing was convenient, the busses were hokey - we had to take 2 busses to get to the lobby to try and refill our mugs then had to go to DTD to get back on another bus to get back our room............ it was bizarre - DH was NOT a happy camper - and I just didn't like the room or anything - I didn't like the food offerings at the rest. - nothing there appealed to us - I guess we are just Kidani people too!!! (but we did eat at the Beach Club and DH said he'd like to try it out!!!)

Well, we only went to DTD once - and it was a short bus ride - we couldn't see anything of it though from our room. I did like being on the first bus stop - if we hadn't been, I'm certain DH would've moved - as the busses were generally packed by the 2nd/3rd stop. I mean, I guess some people like it, but we didn't. To each his own - I'm glad we tried it out - now we know!!!

Thanks - yeah, exactly right, we prefer to have everything close, under one roof, no bus sharing, etc.... etc.... I think we'll try the Beach Club and Bay Lake, DH was interested in those, but no more "open" places like SSR - I'm sure it'll be the lodge or kidani for a long time though - before we venture out to another place.

Reading these posts makes me happy that I picked AKL for my first trip. I figured out of all the deluxe resorts, I can always check into a nice, beachy, or spa like resort...but when would I ever get to see wildlife??
I booked a Savannah room Club Level. I hope that means something. I also booked the sunset safari (I wont even try to spell the name of it!)

I really can't wait.
