Mark has an excellent map with shortcuts he made (due to the looooong hallways) when we stayed there two years ago...let me know if you want it. We just had a standard view at BWV, so that's got the most detail.

Long story, but to make it much shorter, we think our Dec trip is back on We're not positive though. But we have until 11/1 to cancel. It's not @ AKLV though, it's our other ''home'' of SSR.
If we do decide to go, we added the dining plan to save a bit of money, and we booked dining ressies (Sanaa for my birthday) but we can always cancel them if we have to. Supposed to be running the Orlando Half Marathon, haven't registered for that, waiting until i know for sure. So keep your fingers crossed that we're going

Through a strange happenstance, we are staying at AKL ONE NIGHT only (9/30), and I couldn't be more excited. We have reservations for Jiko AND Boma, dinner and breakfast, respectively.

Two dumb questions. We booked a standard room - what are the chances we'll have a balcony.

Also, I tried to get a savannah room, but they were sold out, at least with the 40% pin. If I keep calling, is there any chance I'll get one?

That is awesome news - you must be so excited. I wouldn't worry about TS every day. Adult beverages - yes but the heavy, time and $$-consuming meals get old IMO

Your room should definitely have a balcony but your view probably won't be anything great (parking lot, bus stop, roof?) I would DEFINITELY call every day that you can. For late September you have a very good chance of something else becoming available. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy AKL - it's incredible

Great news about your son's team.

We've never stayed at WL, but visited it a few times. It's a beautiful resort. The only thing missing are the large animals outside your balcony.

Everyone is at Disney.
WL was our favorite resort until we stayed at AKL. You'll be fine there. It really is beautiful.

We always SAVE money by not doing the DDP because we don't always want dessert - especially at lunch - and sometimes want just an appetizer for dinner instead. It works out really well! Plus with the added bonus of the TiW, it really helps. And at tons of places you can split a meal if you aren't starving - the portions are so big!

You will have a balcony if you are on any floor but the 1st - then you'll have a patio. Every view has outdoor space! There are a ton of places to view the animals around the resort, so even if you don't end up with teh savanna view, you can still go see the animals easily. We had a pool view at Jambo and it was GREAT!

Stepdisney, the WL is beautiful! Completely relaxing and calm, like AKL. Plus the boat to MK or the 5 minute bus ride is incredible!

We decided the heck w/the DDP, TIW is so much better for us. So we have changed things around. We cancelled Tutto, and I was just gonna leave it that way,but fiance wants to try Akershus. Which surprised me, he doesn't care about princesses He is looking forward to the food I am too, I havent eaten there in years.
We cancelled Turf Club, Yak & Yeti, Raglan Rd.
There was no way in heck I was cancelling Sanaa for my birthday!
We can always add something back in if we want.
We are meeting friends for sushi @ Poly one night. Same friends eat offsite sometimes, there is a Mexican place they love that does apps and happy hour so we said we'd love to go with them.
So, IF trip is officially back on, we've got a good plan

So glad to hear your trip is back on . We did the dining plan exactly one time..back in 2006 and it drove us crazy. Since then we've had the TiW card for the last two trips, and we saved a couple hundred bucks each trip over using the dining plan. I figure it out in excel each time, and we come out ahead with TiW. The added bonus of using it for drinks after a long day isn't bad either

Congrats to you DS's team. You won't miss AKL that much...I love the WL (DH not so much). So much so that I hated AKL when we moved there the first time from WL. Afterall, the WL had lake access, boats to the other lake resorts and the MK...you could rent Sea Racers..and best of all - you could walk onto the beach and see the Electrical Water Pagent (which I LOVE ). It also has (DH at least thinks so, but it's the only thing he likes about WL) the best bar. You'll feel right at home at the WL as it can be relaxing..just maybe not as much as AKL.

Well, it's not 100% officially back on. Fiance says it is, but thats because he's assuming finances will be better...I'm just saying it's 90% official just in case I'm glad several people now have told me they came put ahead w/TIW! That puts me @ ease.
