Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

If you read what the pp actually said, they said that their friend is tired of it and laughs at it. Perhaps the friend has actually told the pp how he feels. Instead of the usual assumption of being spoken for. And the pp never said they know what it’s like to be black. Gee whiz. Talk about reaching or fishing.

Oh, just stop. You're way too smart to believe that.

Well, it's official. I'm the only nurse here who realizes I am not part of this family and don't need to feel insulted over what I think other people are up to. Love you guys, but pick up an extra shift. You're way too invested in this family.

Funny how anyone that doesn’t share your defense of Meghan Markel is “too invested” and yet you have posted as much or more than they have.

The stuff I know is the stuff in the regular newspaper (although anything from the Daily Mail needs to be read critically). I'm not looking at the Telegraph, Express and every other junk tabloids. Nor do I consider "Royal Watchers" worthy.....and yes we're snowed in so there isn't much else to do.

That the pp has a best friend that is black? Or that the black friend gets tired of the race card getting pulled at every thing?

I can and I do believe it. I have two black friends, one at work and one outside of work(well came from work but she isn’t there now). One is male and one is female. The female stands behind every mention of racism, without proof. Or better to say, the things we have discussed And from what I see on FB, her daughter is the same. The male friend says most of it is a bunch of bs. He feels strongly that the majority of the people pulling the race card have never truly experienced racism. I am not sure of his background but from his convictions, I would venture to guess that he has.

So, yes, from my experience, I believe the pp.

Uh-huh. :rolleyes1

Some people have gone way past "invested" and this point and are now just coming off as unhinged. :scared:

Hopefully we can get back to discussing the topic and not each other.

yes, that's it....anyway...the topic...leave them alone. Why do you care?

How on earth does any of that explain why only those that don’t agree with you are “too invested”?

It is reminiscent of the old Soviet Union where to be accused was to be guilty without the need for further investigation.

By the way, if you think that the Telegraph is a "junk tabloid" you should visit an optician.

This.
And it's not even a close call.

Wow, H&M got a pretty sweet deal out of this. They pay a relatively small fee so no one can complain about who covered the cost of renovations and get everything else given to them, it seems. I’m not sure the bit about Charles covering expenses until William takes over is all that meaningful. Wouldn’t it always have been William’s decision whether to pay his brother’s way once he was king?

Indeed.

They are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. He is still Prince Harry (or whatever his legal name is, Henry?)
Charles will still financially support them.
They get to use the Frog house while in the UK (apparently rent-free)
Their security will still be publicly funded.
They don't have to attend all those silly monarchy events.
Apparently the Queen left the door open about regaining their HRH titles if they change their minds.

The big question now, is, will they get to collect on royalties using their "Sussex Royal" copyrights given that they are still the Duke and Duchess of Sussex?

If so, that will NOT sit well with the people of the UK!

I imagine there was LOTS of handwringing over this!

I don't see why not. They own the trademark and can profit from it if they wish.

I'm sure plenty of people in the UK and elsewhere are seething over the favorable deal H&M received.

By all reports, Meghan was a big fan of Diana's at some point in her life before she met Harry. She was also a bit of a history buff and supposedly even studied the history of the royal family, maybe when she visited England at age 15.

OMG!!!! Even back then Meghan was disrespecting the Queen by sitting on the Royal railing!!!

The Queen supposedly said she wanted this resolved "in days, not weeks."

Did anybody really think Charles would cut off Harry's allowance?

I'm sure many were hoping that Charles would stop the handouts. I figured he'd continue for 3 to 5 years until H&M established themselves.

The problem with all of the H&M bashing is that no one really knows what is going on behind closed doors. None of us know what is being said to/by them to the other members of the family. None of us knows what it is like to be under constant scrutiny and to have the tabloids twist and turn every single thing that you do into something horrible. Those who say that "she should have know", it is one thing to know that you will be scrutinized, it is another thing to actually live under the constant vitriol that is being spewed about it. That would affect anybody. It is easy for others to say that the "benefits" outweigh the negative. For you, that might be true. But for H&M, it obviously is too much. I think that Harry is the driving force in this. He has said numerous times how he does not want the same thing that happened to his Mom to happen to his wife. I don't see that as being selfish, I see that as him growing up and being a man taking care of his family. They could have done things differently, that is always the case. But they probably did what they thought they needed to do at the time. I am not going to sit here and bash them for wanting a different life for themselves.
People are very quick to judge others with very little personal information. Take the discussion about the grandfather who dropped his step-granddaughter out of the cruise ship. So many were quick to defend him without all of the facts. And it came out that he did the unthinkable by dangling her out the window. The point is, we don't know all of the facts with H&M. And I am not going to start bashing her(because it is always the woman's fault) because I don't know what is happening. I see a guy who has had his Mom go through the same thing and does not want his wife to.

Some people talk out of their behind and have no clue. Why wouldn't he help Harry out, just like any other parent would. Harry does not have a normal life that he could do what everyone else does and go and get a regular job. He is still core member of the royal family and has to follow protocol. He has to dress a certain way, attend royal events, etc. All of the things that he has been doing his whole life. There is no way for him to have earned an income to be able to support what it means to be in that position. If he had a "regular" job, do you think that he would have been able to perform his royal duties? Oh sorry boss, I need 3 weeks off to go represent the Queen in another country. LOL That would go over well. I think some people can not even fathom what that kind of life is like and are thinking in terms of us "normal" people's lives.
