Is it ok to be yourself in WDW?

Sorry this is my first thread and im not sure how to word what im asking, but here it goes...I've been before with my family, but this is my partners first time. I pretty much pass for straight but my partner is a little more flamboyant and i worry he can't be his-self. We're not the type to go round holding hands etc so we wouldn't be pushing it on to anyone. I hope you know what i'm saying? I just want him to love it there as much as i do

Yes as a straight Mom and Grandmother I can say YES! I wouldn't say he could come in a dress and not get some strange looks and comments but that could happen in any part of the world, BUT other than that I'd say he would be fine and have a very magical time.I hope you both have a great time and he learns just how lovely WDW can be and grow to love it as much as you!

I think everyone should be themselves ALWAYS! Too much PDA is inappropriate in a family setting whether you are gay or straight, and you alluded that you are not like that so I see no problem with being yourselves, heck, I wouldn't even mind if you were holding hands!

With that being said, there will ALWAYS no matter where you are be narrow-minded bigoted people who will try to make you feel uncomfortable. Please don't let them. Go and have fun, the majority of people don't care if you are straight or flamboyant, and are just there to have a good time with their loved ones, you should do the same.

I'm a Mom going with my three girls....and the best husband in the world ... We are ourselves and to some that may be annoying but that's okay. We aren't rude...just silly at times and what better place to be silly...giggly... happy! You and yours have every right to be yourself as well

There is no where I've traveled that gives a more welcoming and accepting feel than WDW. People can be an issue wherever you go, but based on what you stated in your post, I do not see an issue at all. Go, be yourselves, talk to the people around you. We've met wonderful people in lines at WDW. Friends for the 20 or so minutes we are waiting and it enriches the experience greatly.

I walked around 1/2 the day in the park with a set of customized princess ears and my face painted. I didn't notice anybody care.

Another time I walked around with mickey hands for most of the day...cast members who also had mickey hands would say "high 4" to me. During the parade, I waved to mickey with my regular ears on and hands and he did a lilttle acknowledgement pointing out our ears and did a far away high 4 to me.

So yes, defintely, be yourself. Have fun, be a kid.

The only place I ever had trouble in disney world was in the bathrooms. My ex GF is somewhat butch and sometimes people would give her a hard time in the ladies room. Sometimes it is understandable for the little old ladies to do a double take and say something because they actually thought she was a boy, but she isn't really THAT butch and sometimes people said things just to be a jerk. This certainly isn't something specific to Disney, but it did happen quite a bit while we were there.

Have you ever read the "bathroom" threads on the other boards? Holy cow! Parents are told to leave their 6 year old boys unattended rather than bringing them into the ladies' room. Seriously? There is NOTHING TO SEE in the ladies' room! GET OVER IT! But time and time again, people will ask about traveling alone with an opposite gender child and other posters FREAK OUT. Just knowing how they get about little kids, I can only imagine how ugly things would turn if they thought an ADULT of the opposite gender was in the "wrong" bathroom. I am sorry your exGF had to put up with that.
