is it near impossible to get an adr at Chef Mickey's or Ohana?

I just looked for reservations for 8 at CM for several nights in the last week of September, and there are lots of open slots. Perhaps more seatings have now been loaded into the system.

In general, I would say that a good rule of thumb is that there are *very* few meals at WDW that fill up on the first morning right at 180 days. Only the most popular restaurants at the most popular time of year. In that case, if you find no availability, it's more likely that the seatings are not yet in the system for some reason. (For instance, we recently had a situation in which there were several weeks when the breakfast seatings had not yet been loaded for CRT, with the exception of one single day. When guests w\phoned, they were being told by the reservation CMs that it was just because the place was so popular.)

I just made all our reservations today for our June trip. I got Ohana's for ten people . . . but it was later than I would have liked . . . 8:40. Thanks ChildAtHeart I just called T-Rex and got ressies for ten at 6:45. I read that you can no longer make online reservations for T-Rex. I am
not able to get Chef Mickey's . . . I tried calling and was told that what I see on line is the same thing that they see. Good luck to every one!:yay:

Weird. I was able to get a table for any day AND time I was at Disney for OHana's. And every other restaurant I wanted. Other than yachtmens. Apparently, it's under refurb, no wonder I couldn't get an ADR:rotfl2:

So I tried calling at least 3 or 4 times as well as checked online daily. I am still way out and I already have a back up plan for Ohanas.

Many of you have recommended calling. When I call, I am just getting an automated service when I give the restaurant name, date of reservation, etc. Is it best to actually speak to a person? Would that even make a difference?

Ohana for Sept 29 was the first ADR I tried to make this am. I had no issue getting CRT or Le Cellier on the days I wanted but Ohana was a no go for me. I was really hoping to have it our first night but ended up juggling and doing CRT first night and Ohana later in the week. Sept 30-Oct 4 had lots of openings (this am at 6) but Sept 29 was a nope.

I called right at 7am on my 180 day mark and was told there were only 2 openings at 'Ohana for the day I wanted, 5:05 and 8:20. We took the 5:05. :goodvibes

Don't give up, I'm sure people cancel all the time!

I booked an 'Ohana dinner in Feb. for my trip in March. Granted it was for 9:50 PM but for being less than a month out, I would take whatever I could get!!

Chef Mickey's was totally gone by that time though (not surprisingly).

I was able to get dinner at both very easily at 180 days, even went back in to change Ohana to an earlier time a few days later and no problems.

But then we are a small crew, just three of us.

You also might want to call and see if you can talk to a person. Maybe they can book you two ADRs for 4 people each, one under your name and another under a name of another adult in your party.

We're headed to WDW next week but only booked about 6 weeks ago - and had no clue what an ADR was. Thankfully I started reading the DIS! ADRs don't appeal to me at all. I can hardly decide what I want to make for dinner tonight let alone where I want to eat and when I want to eat months in advance!!! But, I knew from looking over the restaurants that I'd really like to try 'Ohana and I thought my son would like to do a character meal. He's into the traditional Disney characters so CM seemed like the only one that fit the bill. When I tried booking there was no availability for CM at all the entire week for breakfast or dinner. 'Ohana had breakfasts available but I wasn't interested in those, only dinners. For dinner, they only had very late time slots which just don't work for us. As our trip got closer, I kept checking the dining reservations website and eventually an 'Ohana popped up for Monday and another one for Tuesday - both around 6:30. PERFECT! Just yesterday (3 days before our trip) I got one for CM on the day we're leaving at 7:05. Not thrilled about the time, but I booked it. I figure I can always cancel a day out with no loss...So the moral of my story - even if it seems like you're approaching your trip and everything is booked, keep checking! People do change plans and cancel. Also, subscribe to the Cancelled Reservation thread on DIS for the month you're going. Other DISers will post when they are cancelling, and sometimes you can scoop them up. Good luck!!!

Availability seems to depend on your party size. As previously stated I had problems finding a ressie for one but other people have had no problems.

i know you guys go in sept etc for free dining..... thats the reason the resturants are so booked. Thats the main reason we dont go for free dining. I will say calling may be the better option. technology is not always better. Dining depostis created lately were to try to eleviate the booking system but honestly dont think its made much of a dent except maybe for 2TS resturants

We enjoy the nice meals almost as much as the parks....it can be really frustrating knowing you have a dining plan but get stuck taking whatever you can get.

Went with a couple once who refused to make adr's ...."ahhh you can always get a table"....were they upset. may have ruined their WDW experience.
