Is it me? Or is this just wrong?

Honestly, it's very scary to be the parent at those types of games and I'd be nervous for my kid going into a game if I saw that on the back of a parent's van from the other team.

I thought the same thing.

My godsons played football last year. At one of the games I was sitting next to this couple who were HORRID. When they came and sat down they both had on Ravens wear, as did their younger child. Most of the parents on our team and their's, including myself were wearing our team spirit wear. They started with their nonsense from the start of the game. Some of the stuff they said:

The ref's were paid off. This was anytime there was a call on them, and they were winning the game.:confused3
Our team were Redskins fans Umm how could you tell since just about everyone was wearing team spirit wear.
Our team was nothing but white trash Say what? One of the richest counties in the state and we're white trash.

ETA: I forgot to add this before. We have played a couple teams, on their home fields, that were in areas that were violence prone and told that if the coaches took the boys and headed to the cars we were to just leave.:scared1: But I have to say they were some of the best teams and their coaches and medical person were great. I remember one game where the one teams coach and medical person were on the field and helping our injured players before our people could get there. And there was never a problem with the fans either.

If nothing else, it's pretty twisted and poor sportsmanship.

But I agree with those who say it could be a crime, something along the lines of "making terroristic threats" maybe?

My dd played hs soccer and playing at that level you just have to expect injuries, maybe even a couple serious ones, it's the nature of the game. But there was one game that was just over the top for violence from the other team. Even though I felt like the refs were allowing all kinds of violations to go on I do believe (not totally sure, it's been too many years now!) at least one of their players got red carded before it was all over.
Isn't it sad? DBF plays hockey on an adult "for fun" league. It's a large range of ages: college age to mid 40's. Now, this is hockey. Injuries and hip checks and the like are expected. But one team is over the top rough. They purposely pick fights with players and start brawls. Yes, brawls! It was sad to hear that a bunch of adults (with very little to no spectators because of late night games, and most have kids of their own) would act this way. There is no championship, no trophy, no bragging rights, and they pay to play! How childish! (I don't know if that team still plays. A new season has started, but I haven't heard him mention anything so I'm hoping they are done for.)

As for the van...I have a pretty good sense of humor. And sometimes a twisted sense of humor. Yet, I don't find that funny. If it was just a list of teams with X's next to the games they lost and check marks next to the games they won, then it wouldn't be so bad. But a hit list? And telling kids to break ankles and 'we are gonna git ya'? That's just over the top. Why do I have a feeling that teams the one all the other teams dread playing.

Talked to one of my friends earlier and she said her DD hate's playing this team. :sad2: She hadn't seen this van yet.

The rash of unsportsmanlike behavior is growing and encouraged by the parents, it is sad! Last night at my DS's baseball game one of our players got hit in the face by a hit ball and the other team and parents were cheering!!! It was disgusting. Not one parent seemed concerned and not one coach from their team went over and asked about our kid.

I have one better, last Sunday at my dd's U11 soccer game, there was about 1 minute left in the game. The score was tied and the other team was taking the ball down towards our goal. One of their girls took a shot on our goal and it hit and snapped up the wrist of one of our defenders. Our girl had her hand at her side - it was not an intentional hand ball.

I heard her hand snap up and heard her blood curdling scream. At that point, the ref blew his whistle, the girls sat on the field (what they have to do for injuries). Our girl was just crying, you could tell it was a bad hit. In fact, it BROKE her arm. What is the coach on the other team and what are the parents of the other team yelling "hand ball, hand ball - we should have a penalty kick". I could not believe it:confused3 The ref was just looking at the coach. He let the time run out and called the game.

We are also talking a rec league here!

one game, I overheard the opposing coach telling his players to target one of our player because she has a weak knee. :sad2: (the player was wearing a knee support)

Very scary!:scared1: They are kid's I see nothing wrong with healthy competition but come on, people screaming and yelling hurt this one do that it's crazy! Like you said too it's a rec. league come on it's not college or pro!

My daughter plays club soccer, and some of the parents can be pretty intense. We were at a tournament one weekend and a father on the other team told his daughter that he would give her $5 for every one of our players that she took down. The ref heard him and kicked him off the field for the entire tournament!

Good! Sometimes at these games the parent's are out of control and some ref's turn a blind eye!
