Is it just me? Or does it seem like AP prices are a lot higher?

Now I admit, the last time we bought AP was May 2006, so it has been 2 years. Still looking at the current prices, even with the DVC discount it seems like they have gone up about $70 per ticket since then. I remember them being about $300 per adult back then.

So am I just remembering things wrong or just suffering from sticker shock? Have they really increased that much? They seemed like a great deal before with the DVC discount, now not so much. Any one else with insight into this? Am I just going crazy (or getting super cheap?)

Here are a few with current prices.

There isn't anything you can do about it.

If it makes you feel better, rant away... I'm listening. :flower3:

I found an old blog that said in 2006, standard adult APs were $415 + tax, they are $448 + tax now, so they went up $33 in 2 years. Or about 8% (4% per year). Of course, deduct $100 for the DVC discount.

APs are getting more expensive; in fact, all of the park tickets are getting expensive. My concern is with the rate at which they are increasing. The price seems to be going up at a rate which will make it unaffordable for the standard family in about 5 to 10 years. I would compare it to the price of professional sporting events where it used to be somewhat affordable for a family of four to attend, its now almost impossible to afford. I hope the price of park admission never, ever gets to be that expensive.

Couple of things I noticed. We have been to Disney orld the past 3 years during March Break (Ontario)

This year the crowds at all parks were way down.

Perhaps it has something to do with the price of admission?

Well the hope the crowds are down in early May.

Thanks for the info Chuck. That seems right. I guess before I rounded down to 300, now it is rounding up to 400, and with 4 tickets to buy (2 adult, 2 child it really adds up.) DD just turned 3 this year so it is her 1st AP.

Or could it be a sign of how bad the economy is?

Yes, bad ecomony and high ticket prices equal less people in the park. When we took the monorail from EPCOT to the Magic Kingdom mid afternoon we noticed more than after the parking spaces at the Magic Kingdom were still empty.

The cost of park tikets IMO is beyond OBSCENE!!!.....Especially for DVC members who have invested, by normal standards, a substantial amount of money into Disney, and continue to spend large amounts of money in the resort itself.

I mean it cost me $1,000 for park passes this year!!!....Yes there is nothing we can do about it, except point out how ridiculous it is.

I mean my season tickets to the Pats increased by 30% this year, (which is understandable considering that exciting victory in the Superbowl...ahhh....whats that you say??).....Why does it continually feel like this economy falls squarely on the back of the middle class!!

With PAP's costing nearly $2000 for us, and the price of gas and food ever on the rise, we are going to have to think twice about our summer vacation. I may not cancel this one, but will find it difficult to stretch our finances to get it. I used to think we were ok financially, but now I'm beginning to worry and finding it necessary to find new ways to cut back on all sorts of things. :sad2:

We;re not getting AP's this year bc we don't plan on another vacation to WDW until 2010. I priced out tickets for 6 days for our family of 4 and it cost over $1000 for six days. (that's a 4 day park hopper with 2 days "free" through undercover tourist.) That's outrageous. I'm really feeling it now that my kids are older (one is an "adult" now and one is now a kid, i.e., no longer free.) Between ticket costs and taking the kids out of school, annual vacations to WDW are just not going to happen anymore.

We are trying to decide on what we will do too.We bought PAP's for the first time ever last Aug. We also got that trip, Nov, Jan. and will get July's trip out of them....so that was great. However we are going back in Nov. and we still have some Magic You Way passes that have 7 days left.....so we might just use those and get new PAP's summer 09 but that might start out going ONLY ONCE A YEAR. I am tempted to just get the AP renewals then we would get Nov. trip and next summer's trip out of them. :confused3 :confused3

Hi I was also there from Feb 26 thru March 13(go every March) and didn't notice much difference...except for the last few days I thought it would be more crowded but alot of schools that were off then changed their dates because of Easter being early especially the Fla schools which I know from a friend who lives there....also what I noticed is it depended on parks one day at DHS you could hardly move and over at Epcot it was great....also the hours the park was open on that last week were longer than I can remember 11 at MK 10 at DHS with 2 Fantasmics even AK was open until 8....that usually means the resorts are booked?
As for AP , we get AP's and after Iger took over that year they increased the AP 2 X that year in Jan and Aug and in Aug each year since that.

We have yet to pay more than $300 for an AP. That is my limit! (well, for now anyway). We have a couple of vouchers that we got a few years back (at that magic number) that we will use in Jan '09. But after that, no more (at least I think!).

We get the 10 day non-exp and will get many trips out of those. As DVC members, we have been to the parks so many times that spending that kind of cash is simply not worth it. And if Disney doesn't mind losing our dining $$, I don't mind not giving it to them! We tend to eat off site if we don't go into the parks.

It is going to be close to 1400 for the 4 of us. Darn my youngest turning 3 (she is really small for her age, like the size of a 1 1/2 year old ):rolleyes1 just joking.

At least we have the tax rebate and a couple hundred from Disney Visa points.

Next year will be nice since we won't have to buy tickets then. It is so temping to go more then twice when you have the AP's.

we decided that we won't be going into any Disney parks for a few years, it is getting quite expensive.
But we will still be traveling to Orlando to stay at DVC. We will be seeing what else the area offers, including some state parks.
We will also be doing most of our eating off site. As of now, there are only two WDW restaurants on our list for the ten days we will be there.

IMHO, I don't think the AP's are worth it. At best, I would (and am)purchase a 10 day MYW base ticket, non-expiring. We are so tired after one park, I can't see the value of a park hopper, unless you want to eat in Epcot all week. There are DVC discounts for Typhoon Lagoon if you want to go. I think 2 parks in a 5-6 day visit is plenty. I am planning on our 10 day passes to last us at least 5 yrs.! :goodvibes

This is exactly what we will be doing. We have had APs since the discount began. Starting this year, we will be getting 10 day non-exp. passes. Even though we spend 2 to 3 weeks per year at Disney, these passes should last 2, maybe 3 years. We have also started eating off-site much more than in the past (another big savings), and are beginning to really enjoy the other resort benefits (Spa, Segway tours, pool hopping, etc). It's nice not to be pressured to use the AP as much as possible, trying to get our moneys worth and then some.
