Is it foolish to book a 1-bedroom?

You may "never want to go back" to a studio.

I've always felt that 1 BRs improved the "quality" of our vacations. DH had a high-pressure job, got limited vacation time, and in a 1 BR, he relaxed much more. But he retired 2 days ago, and theoretically we could "go back" to studios. However……we're perfect examples-we'll NEVER go back!

Well for it me it is never foolish, to be where I want to be enjoying a larger room and bed.

We don't cook but we do love having a huge refrigerator for breakfast foods and snacks.

We book a 2 bedroom always for the 3 of us. We want the bathrooms and actually bedrooms.

Same for us, 2 adults = 1 bedroom, 3 adults = a 2 bedroom. :thumbsup2

My husband will only stay in a 1 bedroom. Even if it's just the 2 of us. It makes for a very relaxing vacation! We love the space, the larger balcony and of course the washer and dryer! I don't think you'll be disappointed. Our favorite part of our vacations is usually our room!

We don't ever feel it foolish to get a 1 bdrm! We have a king bed at home and it's very difficult for us to go from a king to queen when on vacation, but, that's only one reason we always get a 1 bdrm. We also love having the washer/dryer since it enables us to pack very lightly and we are among the minority who DO use the kitchen....on occasion only for breakfast and snacks, but, we always use it. Most trips we do cook a little also.....not five course meals mind you....but, we do put together a homecooked meal usually once or twice during a trip.....depends on the trip and who is with us....always when our 12 yr old gs is with us since he's a picky eater and at least I know if I make something he really enjoys for dinner at least a few nights and then he doesn't really care for something when we dine out....he can always have leftovers from my homecooked meal when we get back to the room.

We only ever stay in 1 or 2 bedrooms. For us the whole point of owning DVC is access to the 1 bedroom facilities and room to relax.

We are doing the same thing next month. Its just the two of us but we are staying in a one bedroom at the BCV.

With a one bedroom you will get a jetted tub, washer/dryer - which mean you won't have to over pack. More space.

Plus you won't have to switch resorts during your stay.

My DH and I always stay in a 1 bedroom minimum if possible. The king sized bed and the washer and dryer also seem to make it worth it to us. I love being able to pack less and get laundry done in the evenings! Saving points is great, but the entire reason that we purchased DVC was to improve the quality of our WDW vacations...and the 1 bedrooms certainly do that for us!

And don't forget that you also get that totally adorable entryway at BCV.

We are hooked on the 1 bedrooms. We only have 3, and would be able to manage with a studio just fine, but I love having the extra space. And, if we are not on the same sleeping schedule, it is no problem staying up and watching a little late night TV while the others are snoozing in the bedroom.

I will admit that we do use the kitchen to save a little $. Nothing crazy, but we do have breakfast every day in the room to get a good start. And, on the days we stay at the resort to relax and do the pool, we will use the kitchen and grab a couple of frozen pizza's or something.

It all comes down to how you feel about using the extra points. I know for us that we have no problem, I enjoy the extra comfort we get from the bigger room - seems to make it feel more special than just a hotel room.

Don't forget about the washing machine. Having one in the room means you don't have to babysit your laundry. You can start a load and head the parks.

With the full kitchen, larger bed, and ability to put the kids to bed and close the door, I wouldn't call it foolish. A little expensive for my tastes, but not foolish.

WASHERS AND DRYERS are the reason we always book 1-bedrooms, not the kitchens.

Our very first stay was in a BWV studio. We thought it was so big. But ... Once we stayed in a one BR that was it. Love the kitchen for breakfast and making quick dinners, love the washer dryer and DH needs his tub! We don't do the parks as much so having "our" vacation home to relax in, sit on the balcony and watch the world go by is a treat.

My wife and I almost always book studios unless it's a last minute booking - even with son and teenage grandaughter. It's hard to justify half as many trips for a kitchen that doesn't get used and washer and dryers that are terribly inefficient. Always enjoy the 1 BR unit, but don't like the "buyers' remorse" feeling when looking at "double digit" point usage for a week-long stay.

I have occasionally splurged and gotten a 1 bedroom just for me. No one else was traveling with me. Those are real vacations.

We generally get a one bedroom for the two of us and myself if solo. I like the laundry inside the unit and when the wife is with me I can get up an hour before her and enjoy my coffee without disturbing her before she joins me.
