I've never bought travel insurance before and I was wondering if there are cutoffs as to when you buy travel insurance. Paying off my cruise this week. We sail on the September 10th Fantasy.

Some CSA policies offer a waiver of pre-existing conditions if purchased within 24 hours of making your final trip payment.

You pay more the longer you wait. Also, you can get pre-existing condition coverage if you get the insuranceafter the window, you just have to pay more for it

I haven't checked prices after purchasing my insurance to see if they increase as it gets closer to the departure date. However, if the policy says to purchase it by a particular date to get the waiver of pre-existing conditions - then that's the deadline.

I misread your original reply. You are correct, to get the pre-existing add on from CSA, you need to do it within 24 hours of final payment. It upped our insurance by about $100 when we did it.

Did you book directly with CSA? Not all of their policies have the waiver of pre-existing conditions, but for the ones that do - it isn't an add-on. Perhaps the extra $100 you paid was to add it to a policy that normally doesn't offer it.

I always buy about 1 to2 months before cruise so no I dont think its too late. The price doesnt increase. Some things wont be covered like cancel fo any reason unless you buy within 3 weeks of initial payment.

I did go directly through CSA...It was like CSA premier or something like that. They had different levels and an add on for pre-existing.
