Hey Disney fans!
I'm feeling SUPER anxious this morning. Today is the day I can try to get approved for DAS. Like many of you, in the past I had 0 issues getting approved. Now with all these new changes I'm so scared and nervous.
So here's the thing! My trip is for my honeymoon and it was planned and book over a year ago, way before these changes went into effect. From my understanding they are telling a lot of people to simply leave the queue and return. That's where I'm really struggling!! Since this trip is such a big deal to me and my future husband, the idea of having to separate during the trip just seems awful. I know it's not just me, I don't agree with any of it. Families shouldn't have to split up while vacationing together.
I was approved for the ibcces accessibility card but I hear Disney does not accept it. One cast member told me over the phone when I called to ask about it, that since I have this she believes it will help my case. I have my doubts though.
I'm just feeling at a loss right now, and am super stressed about this whole thing! I really don't know if we have time to book a new vacation destination if denied. It's just sad that we have to feel like we need to prove ourselves when people like us already face so much discrimination.
I realized this is a "you don't know until you try" type thing but I just already feel so defeated.

No harm in trying BEFORE you cancel....
you're right! I'm just so nervous about it. I've already experienced so much discrimination from school and in the workplace. I understand why they had to make these changes, but it also seems a bit much at the same time. I read so many stories of people who truly need it getting denied. I don't want my special moment to feel "ruined"

You have the option of purchasing LL. It's an option for people who have issues with lines BUT have issues that don't justify DAS treatment.
I guess I better read up on how it works. it just feels like a money grab at this point though.

It’s a business, not a charity. Every single thing at WDW is a money grab by its very nature. If you don’t want to feel like your trip is a money grab cancel it right now because WDW might literally be the worst choice in the US even if you get DAS approval.

If you’re going to stick with Disney get on that call NOW. You are only making the situation worse by stalling.

There’s 2 sides to every coin. The changes to DAS have not been pleasant. I can understand the how disappointing it is to worry about qualifying and see it as something being taken away.

The flipside is it was not sustainable at the level it was being granted. The more people came to rely on it, the more people needed to rely on it. It mushroomed. It was already going off the rails before covid and then once FP+ was gone it tripled from there. Dysfunctional and not sustainable. Changes had to be made. Currently it is still in a transitional phase though many wrinkles have already been ironed out. People adjusted when GAC turned into DAS and I’m expecting that to be the case here too. People worried back then too the change to DAS would somehow ruin their ability to do WDW.

Had a long and friendly talk with a CM there as I am sure many others have had about the changes and I understood the points being made. The idea was for the 'save my place' thing to also be available to more people not just those with disabilities if for example the heat and humidity just got to be unbearable for someone who simply couldnt stand for a time. They certainly dont want someone, disabled or otherwise, to collapse from heat exhaustion because they didnt want to lose their place in line. The current version is geared towards those with developmental disabilities.

Im sure she was doing her best to put it in the best possible light but that was the gist and I didnt ask about the above situation when there is more than one person. However it would be fair to assume, since it could be a minor that was having the problem as an example, that others could be included.
