Planning 4 nights in early February in a 1 BR Villa at either CCV or BRV - will be me, wife, and 2 young boys. I’ve been leaning toward BRV because of more recent refurb (although I guess CCV refurb should be done by then and have the Murphy bed added instead of sofa bed so maybe that consideration is a wash). BRV 1 BR appears to have more square footage and better layout since it wasn’t a hotel room conversion, but looks like CCV has the double balcony which is also nice. Seems like CCV will be closer to amenities and main pool, while BRV would be separate building off to the side, but pretty short covered walkway. Anything else I should be thinking about and/or thoughts about which you would pick? Many thanks in advance.

My wife and I tend to like the quieter resorts more so I will almost always pick BRV over CCV. The more trips we take the more we realize that is our style.

I made our reservation 11 months out and requested room 6127. Based on what I read here, it seems like the 6th floor may not be available for our trip.

I called DVC and they attempted to contact the resort to clarify which floors would be closed or which rooms not available and they were not successful in getting any information even after putting me on hold for more than 30 minutes. That was a little disappointing. So I ended up putting a secondary request for the 7th floor with a similar view.

I’m a little disappointed that as an owner no one can tell me if the room I am requesting is even available. I know a request is never a guarantee but not sure why it is difficult to tell an owner what is available on a stay that is only a few days away. Normally I wouldn’t care as much but this is is a two week trip, combination of graduation and a birthday.

We prefer BRV because we actually like the fact it is in a separate building. The walk between buildings is a quick one and accessing services (dining, shopping) is not difficult The BRV building is also a quick jog to the bus stop and very accessible to the pool. It has its own nice lobby (no comparison to the WL main lobby of course, :-) but lovely in its own way), which is usually quiet and peaceful.

We like CCV a lot, but seem to gravitate more to BRV.

If you are talking about CCV, the renovations are supposed to be complete by September. You don't mention when you are going. From recent reports in another thread, the 7th floor of CCV is done and I believe 4, 5, and 6 are closed.

I would go CCV since highly likely your room will be newly refurbed.

I gave a more detailed response in the other thread but for everyone’s benefit reading along, we check in in four days (Sunday). I have added a 7th floor request with a similar view.

I was leaning that way for that reason, especially since it seems like CCV also tends to be more difficult to book (although at the moment, early February looks really open). But, watching the video walkthroughs of the current BRV vs. CCV, the BRV 1 bedroom wins hands down. They seem to have done a great job with the theming. Will the soft goods refresh of CCV catch it up to the hard goods refurb BRV got a few years ago? I’m hesitating a bit. Might be leaning towards going with what I know looks great right now. Got until Friday morning for my 7-month window to open up.

BRV is much much easier to book. If you book CCV and change your mind after seeing more photos I think you could easily switch into BRV. Some photos of CCV are starting to come out and I expect a ton of photos by mid august because they are holding room tour open houses at CCV. The most recent photo the theming was Brother Bear I believe

That is a good thought. Might just do that.

Just noticed that CCV is actually 2 points cheaper than BRV for my particular dates. So, CCV it is! At least for now anyways.
With two littles if you don’t get a refurb the couch vs Murphy won’t matter too much. The thing that you will miss out on will be the ease of putting the bed down and back up without having to worry about where to put the cushions lol

The two resorts are so close to each other I don't think you should consider distance any hindrance. Boulder Ridge could possibly be a bit quieter, the rooms in the main building can either get pool or Whispering Canyon noise occasionally. We've heard both from different locations and they weren't a constant issue though. I haven't seen many photos of the new refurb yet, but I tend to think CCV has a slightly more modernish take on the wilderness theme than BRV, but otherwise they're very comparable.

Yeah I went thinking they were separate and when I arrived I was very surprised by how closely connected they are to one another. Its like a minute walk from lobby to lobby

Hmm. Saw the photos over on the CCV owners and fans thread. The refresh certainly does look nice, but the video tours of the BRV 1BRs do appeal to me more - you can tell they are more spacious and I much prefer the Mickey/Pluto camping theming they went with over there. Still, I do like the double connecting balconies at CCV along with the more central location. Also wish the balcony in the BRV 1 BRs were off the king bed room and not the living room. Actually, as I think about it, that may seal the deal for me because I can see myself getting more enjoyment out of the balcony after the kids are asleep if I can access it from the King bedroom. And I’ll save 2 points! 😂

This sounds like how my brain works all day everyday. This.. but then there’s that. I want this but no I’m sure I’d rather have that.

I am huge on theming and literally why I bought a 2042 resort 🤣. I’m hoping there are more characters that make their way into the CCV refurb than Brother Bear. BRV 1 bed are fairly easy to get so I think you can safely change your mind later too.

We just had a great stay in a 2 bedroom at BRV!! WE Love the access to the quiet pool, and being able to take the shortcut over to the bus area and parking lot. They gave us a higher floor, so both of our 2 bedrooms had the sofa beds, but used an eggshell on the mattress in our room. The quiet area in Boulder Ridge can't be beat, but I think you'll love your stay in either one!!
