Is express pass worth it for my situation?

I have a September solo trip scheduled to WDW and am going to the GKTW dis family reunion. I'm planning on going down a day or two early to go to Universal as I haven't been there in a few years. Is express pass worth the extra $ for early September (7th & maybe 8th)? I haven't been to Universal enough to know about crowd levels that time of the year.

The time that I went solo to Universal and had an express pass (week of Labor Day in 2017) I didn’t use it much because the single rider line got me through just as fast. When I went back in January 2020, I didn’t bother with the EP and just used single rider lines whenever possible. Not sure how well that will work in this weird, post-COVID world, but I’m skipping EP again for this year’s Labor Day trip (Sept 3-8).

Thanks for your insight! I think I’ll try single rider too.

Plus, if you feel like you want the express, it’s sold all over the parks. Good idea to see if needed first, as the express passes are not refundable, date specific, and park or parks specific.

And agree, many of the rides will have a single rider line, if not, many rides may not have as long a stand by line that time of year. Mid week, from early entry to the time some of the local kids get out of school, and locals come after work, may see lower crowds.

The price can skyrocket if you buy day of. I have an associate who paid $350pp Memorial Day weekend for one day 2 park unlimited. Not saying you will need it, just that it may be expensive day of.

We often go the first week of September. Even as a family, we often use the single rider lines to save time. And we've rarely felt like we needed express pass.
I'd say you don't really need it if crowds play out normally.
