We are going to HHN for the first time on a Friday in mid-October. I'm aware that weeknights are slower, but this was the only time it would work. Given how expensive the express passes are, I'm thinking twice about getting them. Is an express pass worth it on a Friday? We will be spending other mornings at US/IOA so rides are not an issue, only the houses.

Thanks,
Mary

YES

Fridays & Saturdays are INSANE

Even the offnights are still PACKED.

Last year we did HHN,and around 9pm the wate times were 60 min or better.

And We went on a Sunday.

With this years line-up of houses you will be lucky to see half of everything on a Friday..

If you can get it buy it.Friday's are the busiest night!!!

YES!!! Even at $70 for Fri & Sat nights you still come out ahead. We never wait more than 5-8 minutes when using the express passes. Very worth it.

Let me break it down:

Fri/Sat = 60-90-120+ minute waits for EVERYTHING.
Thurs/Sun = 30-45-60+ minute waits.

Mon/Tues/Wed (whichever are offered) = 30-45 minute or less waits.

Express on Fri/Sat or RIP Tours (which are probably sold out for Fri/Sat/Sun dates) are worth every penny! If you get there early and do the Stay & Scream, you'll be able to do a lot, but Express will let you do Everything.

Personally I think the Express passes are a ripoff but I'm one of those types who will start reading about the different haunted houses the day they open, be at Stay and Scream, make sure I'm strategically located to blast into the first house the minute I can and move quickly from one to the next. If you're a planner who can move commando style you'll probably make it through all the houses no matter what day you go. If you are someone who likes to take their time or one of the types of people who pay for a full day of private lessons at a ski resort just so you can cut into the lift lines at will then the Express pass is the way to go.

we always get the pass, but sometimes use it for repeat visits to the houses, every night they open the houses some early and you can get right in and then come back later and use your express pass, if you do not get there at he opening i think you need the pass, even though its a pain in the pocket book, i remember when ap holders got express passes really cheap not anymore

I personally would not go without the Express Pass. I've seen lines way over an hour long and I have no interest in waiting that long to be scared silly  This will be our first year in 5 years not making it to HHN :sad1:

What have the lines historically been on the first night? We wouldn't usually bother with the pass, but we won't have any advance knowledge of the houses! I'm willing to spend the cash if the waits are going to be 1hr+, but I don't have a problem waiting 30-60 minutes.

I am going to HHN on Oct 26th (a sunday) we will be doing the stay and scream....do you think the lines will be crazy then???

Let's put it this way: the scariest part of Halloween Horror Nights are the lines.

I couldn't afford to go WITHOUT Express.

Last year, I was invited to a party with six of my buds to go to Halloween Horror Nights right after school. We got to the park at 6 (when HHN starts) and stayed til 1 (when it closes typically)...then I waited outside my house for my parents to wake up and let me in the house

Anyway, we missed two houses, and one of them was a major attraction! The only stops we had were to ride Men In Black, the Mummy, buy T-shirts, and get ice cream, and since lines were short for everything BUT the haunted houses, that barely subtracted any time!

This was on a Friday night, but week-nights might be less busy...however, if you've got to leave early for school the next morning or whatever, you won't be able to stay long anyway. I would say GET THE PASS!!! You won't need an express pass for the rides, but I'd do anything to get to the front of the line on every haunted house and do all of them. Not only does it let you experience everything, but you can stop along the way and take time to enjoy the special shows and Scarezones.

After last year, I think you'd be dumb not to buy the express pass at HHN if you can

How much are the passes?

We got 'em for every visit last year, and there was only one day we didn't need it (I was pretty pissed about having wasted the money that night, since it was a prime-price night). We always get there early, eat at Finnegans, get released into the park early, do the houses till they get lines, then use our express.
