Is Disney Dining Considered a Hobby? Update 12/23 Last Meal

Lunch 9/29 Tonys at the MK

I had the pleasure of dining at Tonys 3 years ago for lunch with a friend and we really enjoyed the place. I know it doesn't get the greatest reviews but I do like the place. We checked in and were seated right away, our ressie was for 11:05 so it was early. The restaurant was pretty empty for our entire meal. I was kind of glad as Alexander was not cooperating with us wanting to eat :( Instead of dessert I had a garden salad, I would not get it again I felt the dressing had no flavor. Both DH and I ordered the steak that had a delicious tomato crouton and onion salad in a balsamic dressing and carrot on the side. I loved the sides, they were amazing!! The steak wasn't the best I had ever had but it was actually nice. We had the sweetest server who was so kind to our grouchy little baby boy. For dessert we shared the cheesecake which was nice as well. I would not hesitate to return back as I would love eat that tomato side dish again.

looks like a pretty good sized piece of steak to me! always love a nice fresh tomato salad!

Good to finally hear some good things about Tony's. Never been, but largely because I'm Italian and uber picky about my food. Via Napoli pizza gets in, Olive Garden not so much ; ) But your salad looks really good. Leave it to the italians to add carbs to a salad ; )

Sorry you had a crabby pants at lunch, it is great you had a nice waitress and a not busy restaurant! Teething is brutal that is for sure.
I have a weakness for the nachos in Mexico...every trip I get them at least once!

Yes you would probably not like Tonys if you are looking for the real deal Italian food. I tell you those carbs in the salad were good!!!!! Your statement made me laugh :rotfl2:

The food there is more Olive Garden style for sure

Thank goodness it was not crowded in there for sure, poor thing is having a rough week again with the teething. I agree the nachos in Mexico are not to be missed.

Update Time!!

That afternoon we tried a few food and wine booths. I tried my beloved lobster roll at the Hops and Barley booth and I was so sad they changed the recipe from years past. I mean really sad :snooty: Why oh why change a good thing :confused3 My DH had the Empanada in Patagonia and it was fantastic!! We then went over to the chase lounge where you could get free sodas have a fun picture taken. The lounge is huge and offers a nice place to take a break in the AC.

For dinner that night we went to Teppan Edo. We had a delightful meal there for Mothers Day and were excited to return. However this time it was a bust. We waited 40 min past our ADR time to only be put in this back room that was tiny and cramped. Not the same experience that we had for lunch back in May. Also our chef was just going through the motions and not very entertaining. Onto the food, it was just okay this time around. Instead of the dessert on the dining plan we subbed out for the edamame and miso soup. My DH had the green iced tea and I had hot green tea. We both ordered the filet which was nice along with the veggies, rice and noodles. The food wasn't bad but not as nice as before. After this time we won't be going back to Teppan Edo I am sorry to say.

Sorry the lobster roll wasn't what it once was. I haven't had one at F&W, but I hate celery so that one doesn't look much up my alley. Have you had the one at boardwalk before? I don't remember if you had or not, but I enjoyed it in the past as there was no celery ; )

Can't believe you had to wait 40 minute for Teppan Edo. Crazy. Your food looks good though despite the lackluster experience

I had the one at the BW back in December and I am not sure what was going on with their cook but it did not have any flavor and was extremely dry. I would like to give it a second chance those as I love lobster rolls.

The food was nice at TE :)

Update Time

For lunch the next day we ventured to a all time favorite Sanaa! The interior of the restaurant is simply amazing and looking out at the animals is just pure bliss. We are big time Indian food lovers and Sanaa never disappoints. They have taken off a few things of the menu we really enjoyed but I understand they need to change things up. I started off with the African mojito that was super strong. It was good but took the whole meal to finish it. Both DH and I also ordered the mango smoothie and it was refreshing. For our appetizer we ordered the naan bread with all the sauces. We ordered three different types of bread, but honestly they all taste the same to me. For our entrees DH had the short rib curry and I had the spicy durban chicken and spicy shrimp. Holy moly mine was hot, but oooh so good. For dessert we both had the sampler that had chocolate mousse, banana cheesecake and a some type of ice cream in block form. Presentation and taste were tops!! I highly recommend Sanaa and it is totally worth the trip to the beautiful Kindani Village.

I love Indian food too and would love to try Sanaa at some point. Thanks for sharing!

Just joining in. I can't wait to hear more of your reviews. I am looking for that one last restaurant. I have all of the rest. Sanaa sounds really good, but we have two adventurous eaters (myself and my almost 13 year old son) and the not so adventurous eaters (my husband and almost 17 year old daughter). Maybe I can convince them.

Your welcome! I took pics and will add those today.

Sanaa is another place I always enjoy! Glad you had another good meal there.

It is a solid good choice for us and I hope they keep the menu just the way it is :)

There are non adventurous entrees there as well to try.

That lobster roll looked like it had way too much going on. I have family in Maine and I rarely eat lobster out of the state. This summer when we were in Maine since lobster is so inexpensive we bought a few lobsters and made our own. Yum!
Every trip I try to talk my family into Sanaa...next time I will do it! Your meal sounded delicious :thumbsup2

It

It was a real shock when I bit into it for sure, oh well long live the memory of my favorite lobster roll :rotfl2: I am sure the stuff up in Maine is way better than anything in WDW for sure. Definitely give Sanna a try, you won't regret it!

Ahh, Sanaa one of our favs too. And I totally agree the food seemed way hotter on our last trip.
