Well I live in Orlando and don't really have the time or $ to be traveling to California to often. I am a huge Wdw fan in fact it's why I moved here. That being said not a all around Disney fan. I'm more focused on imagineering and Disney parks. Now Star Wars too. But not really into all the collecting stuff. What are some of the perks to being a D23 member. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

I live in GA and don't travel to Cali for the trips either. I had the Gold membership (actually, the only one they had for the first few years and other than the magazines and stuff like that, it wasn't worth it. Now I have the free version because I still won't be traveling to Cali for the trips and most events are out there. You'd probably be better off with the free one too.

Thanks for the info.

If you're planning on going to the D23 convention, it's worth it as the line is literally like 2 miles long if you don't have one and plan to get there at opening.

If you aren't, I wouldn't get it.

There are D23 events yearly at WDW so it is worth it, especially if you like WDI (Mickey's of Glendale) exclusive merchandise.

In fact, the next D23 shopping event in Orlando is May 20, 2016.

See:

This limited-edition merchandise will only be available to the D23 Gold/Gold Family Member who purchased the ticket to the Finding Nemo event, and not to their guests.

We're big Disney fans too. Especially my husband. Got married at WDW and we're DVC members. My husband used to belong to the Walt Disney Society many years ago. I think D23 took it's place. What my husband liked about the Walt Disney Society was the collector pieces you were able to buy. But if you're not into that sort of stuff, that doesn't matter. He's look into D23 and doesn't see anything worth it. I bought it once for him so he can have the nice certificate and frame. We live in California and have never gone to one of it's events. Heard it worse then Comic Con and we've been to Comic Con...never again.

Tickets for this event went on sale today (4//21/16) at 1:00pm PDT. The Wilderness Explorer VIP tickets ($1,100 each) were already wait-listed at 1:30pm. Through the D23 ticket link, I was able to get a room at Grand Floridian (Garden View, Outer Building) at $295.00 per night! The same room is regularly $649.00!

Thanks for posting the link. I wasn't on my computer so couldn't figure out how to post links.
